You seem to be extrapolating a lot on one data point :) Cant get any demographic purchase data on "man buns". :) But the fact remains that people are still buying the hell out of them. Not sure the man bun demographic is enough to account for that.
The thing about stereotypes, there is usually a reason for them.

I'm going on that I've never seen a man bun type driving a truck.

A stupid haircut got me out of a series of meetings once.

One of the governments "experts" sat down at the table sporting a haircut that looked like a 3" sprig of grass popping out of the top of his head.

Shaved everywhere else except for the bleached plumage they left alone.

I laughed so hard I was "excused" from the roundtable and spent the next several minutes trying to catch my breath on the way to my office.

:lmao:

Right, but stereotypes can become outdated as things change. And while The stereotype of who drives a pickup truck hasn't changed all that much, the reality of who actually drives pickup trucks has changed considerably, which is one reason the F-150 is a best-selling vehicle in the country. And I submit the same holds true for EV drivers.

More payload but can only carry it for a small distance before it needs to be charged, and where does the load go there appears to be nothing more than a trunk the size of a corvairs trunk

Distance depends on how far you normally need to haul things. How many times this year have you needed to haul things longer than say 25 miles. Keep in mind, hauling payload isn't the same as towing a trailer, so the mileage hit isnt as bad.

Where does the load go? In the bed thats larger than a four door F-150, of course. Here's 1,88lbs of eight foot drywall. Note that at the end, the air suspension raise it up and levels the whole truck.

Or maybe you want to carry some bags of concrete. And have more room up top?

I can't see myself spending $100k for a pickup truck to haul cement bags and construction stuff.

I mean silly to buy a truck and not use if truck stuff, right? But keep in mind, this guy is in CA, and he runs a construction company. So if nothing else, he's getting a lot of attention to the name on the side of the truck. Literally a rolling billboard. When I do get one, whenever that it, I'll use it for what needs done. Track, construction or landscaping stuff.

So, some EV makers operate for years without making a profit on they vehicle. Note that's not paying off the development cost, just that what it cost you in material, tooling and labor to make that one vehicle is sold for more than that. You cant start paying down development costs til your COGS is lower than your profit from the sale. Hell, Rivians been selling trucks for a couple of years now and is still losing money on each one sold. Pretty sure Ford and GM are both losing money on theirs.
