What exactly was adult content? He said it showed two gay men kissing. There wasn't nudity and graphic sex. You want to remove any children's book that has kissing in it you'll have to start pitching fairy tales into the trash first. And every one of the books preparing for a new sibling. I'll go read the first post again but I'm rather sure he didn't say is graphically showed sex.

I have three answers

1) The idea of same sex relationships is adult in content due to the fact society and various religions has made it taboo.

2) A lot of folks think of gay people then immediately think of sex and two people of the same sex having sex. Not, two people that are perfectly happy and compatible and living a happy life together, most folks, like it or not immediately start wondering what they do in the bedroom. :shrug: From what I've seen, I don't think its fair anyone be judged this way, but alot of people do immediately think of sex therefore that's why I would consider homosexuality to be "adult in content". You wouldn't sit there and talk about Mommy and Daddy having sexual relations to a child why go into the gay drama.

3) Due to the overwhelming fact that there are more couples that are straight than gay, the child will stumble trying to understand why a guy would kiss another guy - in a straight relationship its not a big deal for the girl to kiss a guy. Kids base their knowledge on what they see. If that is mostly what they see on tv, movies, etc.. than that is the norm. Their father kissing another guy is not no matter how much you try to explain it away and the child realizes this. There's a time and a place for this when the child reaches an appropriate age. Even if its jut guys kissing each other and pictures of guys kissing each other - or even two guys in love and sleeping in the same bed... its not the norm (again not saying its gay people are wrong, its just not the norm)... the kid may not be mature enough to handle this.

You don't think the book points out that Daddy now loves another man instead of a woman (his mother)? Isn't that the purpose of the book - so the intended target reads it and doesn't feel alienated? If it was about daddy kissing grandpa then it would have been titled something along those lines. The book is meant for subtle purposes of relating and enlightening. I disagree. I'm not saying a kid will think sexually, I'm saying it's not the norm in society and is adult in nature because of that fact. The kid will eventually realize that daddy and roommate do more than decorate the house and hold hands.

The thing is, I can stop my kids from reading a book like this that I don't want them to see. No harm done. I'm more concerned about people like Dork hanging out in the children's section of the library. It's a bit creepy.

Wow, so you took it upon yourself to censor a library and destroy materials in it.... Its good to know we have you out there to interpret and decide morality. Regardless of what kind of book it was, if you didnt like it then you should have put it back. That is the point of freedom of choice.

Kids don't need to run across crappy books like this. If you want your kid to read it, buy it but don't put it in the children's section. Call me "progressive," but I'd much rather my kids read about two people of the same sex in a loving relationship than read a news report about some guy who's thrown gasoline on his wife and set her on fire; or read a news report about some guy who's beaten his wife to death in front of the kids; or read a news report about some woman who had a contract hit put out on her husband. :shrug:

School isnt the place for kids to learn about human sexual preferences. Either teach all the perversions or teach none. My vote is for none.

Except I am iffy on the "recruiting" part. I don't think they are "recruiting" so much as they are trying to norm something in society that is not the norm and to most it is considered deviant behavior. The Gay activists know that swaying most adults is nearly impossible so they target kids.

Looks like I started a juicy thread here. Sorry I havne't been around for the past few hours to participate. I was visiting a few hospitals and nursing homes. I was, uuummmmm, just visiting people, yeah, that's it. Just visiting people.
