i know this is just acting...but i wonder if doing these scenes will affect ms. fanning later? i have heard when it comes to "method acting" the actor at times becomes the character in order to give the best possible performance.

i wonder how much she put herself into this role.

the idea of the whole thing makes me very uneasy.

Not to change the subject but I saw on the news yesterday where a child sex offender tried to enroll himself in middle school as a 12y/o. Luckily the enrollment office staff was too smart to fall for that. As it turns out he lived in a house with 3 other convicted child sex offenders. One who pretended to be his father. This world is extremely sick.

29yr old Child Sex Offender pretends he is 12yrs old to enroll in school.

Anyone ever seen "Bastard out of Carolina?" I was watching that movie one day on Lifetime. It's about a little girl who gets beat by the her stepdad and the beatings get worse and worse.

Much to my horror, at the end of the movie, there is an actual rape scene with this girl (maybe 13 years old) and the actor playing the stepdad. It was HORRIBLE! I had NO idea that was in the movie. I almost threw up. I was sick about that scene for weeks afterward! I NEVER want to see anything like that again.

It's making the news now so why are trying to act like it's not a current topic?
The date at the bottom of the link was July '06
Saw on the news this morning where some christian group was up in arms about the movie, turned out they haven't seen it, just heard about it and got upset.

I haven't seen it yet either, but the news of someone producing a graphic child rape scene for public viewing pleasure upsets me and I'm not religious.

I think Dakota Fanning is adorable and a great actress.....do you really think if she wasn't ready to portray the victim of rape in an upcoming movie do you think she would have done it? She is not 6..she can decide for herself...Kids are learning younger and younger about sex, drugs, and rape...this movie solidifies it. This world is sick, this movie is for public viewing..maybe not pleasure was the right for it...but we see it every day on the news to be viewed..so why not a movie to educate people?

She was 11 years old when she filmed it, so no, I don't think she knows what she is and isn't ready for.

well who was in charge of doing that?? her parents or her agents? They treat these hollywood kids abnormal...I do find something wrong with that...esp. if the material isn't child friendly...but like I said if she didn't want to do it..she could have opened up and said something about it.

Don't think I like that either, but I'll wait to pass judgment till I find out how graphic the scene actually is.
Could be out of focus in dim lighting and your imagination is led to see vs a brightly lit scene.

Aps! Quit being a big giant pervert. :smack: Focused or unfocused, the cinematic portrayal of child rape is disturbing to say the least. Why would you want either your imagination to lead you to it or a visual? :faint:

Her mother should be thrown in jail.

I can judge because Im a consumer, and its my right as an American to judge against Child porn.... Simulated or not.

I can also judge because Im a parent and just the thought of child abuse and child porn makes me sick.

....
This isn't the first movie ever to portray child rape by an adult.....or even by another child. I wish I could remember the names-but there was one I had to watch in one of my english classes about a family and in it a 12 yr old girl gets raped by her uncle during a party her parents were having...it wasn't graphic - but it was disturbing....and there was blood on the sheets the next morning...

There was another one about a bunch of "younger" teenagers 13-15 and one girl gets raped (she was passed out-but it was very graphic)...

Point being..yes its a taboo subject for a movie-but this is not in the least the first time it's been on the big screen...nor can it be the first parent of an actress/actor who allowed this.
