Did The Wave Thing

Alright.....

After reading the "wave" post, I went for a ride yesterday.

I have a very custom Harley Wide Glide.

I did the "wave" to all oncoming riders.

The wave problem is mostly racial but then it might be mostly age.

Most persons riding big twins are old and white. There are minorities, but most are old and white.

About half of them will give the "wave".

Sport bikes mostly are ridden, in this area, by young blacks.

About half of them will give the "wave".

So, what does this survey prove?

I have no idea.

However....

I will always stop to help a fellow biker no matter what they ride.

Happy Fathers Day !!!!!

So far, it seems to me that the least likely people to wave are Goldwing riders. Of course, I'm a new rider, so I've only seen ~50-100 bikes so far while riding.

I wave to all riders I see. SOmetimes however my attention is on the scenery. I think its all about whether you are seen or not. Sometime, just sometimes its cycle snobbery I thiink.

I wave to everyone. Most wave back. Have yet to distinguish between type of motorcycle and who's riding it, as to who does or doesn't wave.

I wave to all if I see them. Sometimes I'm just really concentrating on what I'm doing. I do the low-down hand wave out my convertible, also. Nobody notices. I started that when I took my sis to the Outer Banks. She's a Harley girl from way back and has had a bike for about 25 years. When she noticed what I was doing, she was really embarassed. That only encouraged me. Then I did it off our front deck at the beach house. :lmao:

There are some Harley snobs out there. I'm not one. I wave to everyone, if I'm paying attention. This whole wave thing though is getting out of hand. I don't go on a damn ride just to wave to every other friggin biker out there. I go on rides to forget about stupid "resposibilities" such as this and tend to pay more attention to the scenery and lookin for the jacka$$ that's gonna pull out in front of me.

How many of you sport bike riders have gotten you bike spit on presumably by a Harley Rider? I have a Harley and Buell and both times that I have been to the Tiki on the Buell, I have returned to the bike only to have to wipe someones ignorance off of it.

I went to Crofton Honda on Saturday.. looked at an ST 1300 that was in for service, and a GW.. MY GOD I've never seen so many buttons and switches and knobs.. I would bet an F-18 has less in it's cockpit then the GW has. I can see why they don't wave.. who know's what button or switch they are playing with at the time.

And there is now NO doubt, I am not old enough for a Gold Wing yet, and at what point do you say Screw it and just buy a car??

Or like the list said..
"Couldn't find the Auto Wave button"

There are getting to be too many riders out there to be wavin' at 'em all. I kinda do it only when it feels right, like passing on a two lane road, no other traffic around, etc.
As far as spitting on someones bike, that sounds like a good way to meet people. :lmao:

I can't believe people really do that. That is the kind of stuff that gives all Harley riders a bad name.
