Here in Maryland and for the Brown Turkey variety we grew, they would ripen in June but sometimes would also produce a later crop in the fall. But most in stores are raised in California and to a lesser extent Arizona with different varieties with different ripening times, so the "season" can run from May until December. I know I saw them being sold in BJs around Thanksgiving time.

It would be cool if you can find the tree. They are so delicious!
A family in Tall Timbers uses their figs to make the absolute best jam and their young kids set up a table by the side of the road and sell it when TT marina has one of their weekend events.

Used to do a lot of canning and fig jam was always a winner. Good stuff!

We had some huge fig "trees" on our place on Brown Rd. in 7D. Gave away buckets full every year...that and pecans. Don't have any of either here on my SGI property but my next door neighbor does have one big fig tree/bush. That type of fig obviously likes it 'round here.

I used to have 7 pear trees, a grape arbor, many persimmon trees, and a huge blackberry patch here....all gone but the persimmons and one lonely pear tree. Some years I'll harvest the persimmons (a PITA race against the crows) and my BIL makes awesome wine with them.

That sounds good. I love fresh figs - never have been able to find them in this area. Heard they're hard to raise.
I have a fig tree. Makes fruit sometimes. I don't pay much attention to it, leave the fruit for the critters, who get them long before I can.

The mahonia, on the other hand, have been spread and planted by the birds, who take the seeds from a huge one I have in the backyard. I have little mahonia all over the yard.
