It was an incredible restaurant in many respects. It was an annual event for our family to go there back in the 60s and 70s...most years that was the only time we ever ate out.Loved Haussners Restaurant!!! Are they still open?

I looooove eggplant parm.Last night we went to Meatball Cafe and ate on the patio. I had spaghetti and meatballs and Monello had eggplant parm.
Wow. The place was something to see and the food was excellent!!!No. Wiki says they closed back in 1999.
Spaghetti and meatballs sounds so basic, but I think it to be one of the best comfort food choices one can make. I make my sauces homemade from the garden harvest and we get our meats from local farms. My next venture is to attempt to make my own pasta. I have memories of my grandmother from hell making her own pasta and I remember my mom doing it a time or two.Last night we went to Meatball Cafe and ate on the patio. A great memory of my mother making pasta is when she draped the stands lovingly and gently on dish towels to dry over the dining room chairs. Out of the corner of my eye I caught glimpse of noodle strands disappearing. Upon investigation we found our dog other the other side of the chair snarfing one noodle at a time.
That must have taken a long time, but worth the wait I am sure.Last night was a couple thick ribeyes from Nick's grilled to perfection, backed sweet potatoes, and a garbage can salad. View attachment 153033
They were thick so about 15 minutes. Five a side, then another quick 2-1/2 a side to finish. (I had the flame a little too low for the first 5 minutes. The middle was nice and pink. That must have taken a long time, but worth the wait I am sure.
What's Mrs Gilligan going to eat?daughter just made a big batch of spicey chicken Alfredo but with shredded spaghetti squash instead of pasta noodles. Can't wait to try it.
Throw a little red wine in the pan with the mushrooms and let it reduce down.We are going to have filet mignon from Nicks grilled with baked potatoes and steamed veggies. With sauteed non-moldy mushrooms.
