:killingme getting the upperhand first doesn't sound like defense.

Pointing a gun at someones head, OR holding a golf club doesn't do anyone harm either, so at what point do you actually DO something.. When they threaten to do it, or after they yell FORE a nanosecond prior to the golf club splitting open your head, or the nanosecond prior to them pulling hte trigger??

SO what, exactly, would you do if your 19 or 20 year old son threatened to kill you? Apparently you are a much better parent then I could ever hope to be, so I'm interested to know what a pro like you would do.

See, here's the rub, I don't have to worry about it. I brought up my children to respect others, and know the difference between right and wrong. None of my kids will ever threaten to kill me, their mom BG or anyone else, but whatever they do wrong they know there are consequences for their actions.. and usually a little more then a stern "I'm going to count to three" or a 3 minute time out that lasts all of 15 seconds..

I have five wonderful children that are my pride and joy. Three have already grown to be positive additions to humanity, and will have a positive impact on our world in the future. The fourth is well on her way to becoming someone great, that any parent could be proud of, and the fifth, well he's five months old, and he's already showing great potential of being a great person.

None of my children have ever been given a traffic violation let alone been arrested. They have never threatened mom or dad or anyone else with physical harm. They are hard workers, they know how to act in public, and strive to make their parents proud..

So tell me, what would you do different in the upbringing of children that I may have missed.

You implied that you would allow the child’s mother to kill the child if it ever threatened yours and/or the mother’s life. I merely objected by stating that I would not kill my child for making the threat. Nowhere in any post did I state or imply that I would disregard the threat nor did I say that I wouldn’t discipline or take action if my child threatened my life - I’ve only said that I would not kill my child for having made the verbal threat.

I never said I was a “much better parent then you,” so why are you being so defensive of your parenting skills? As a matter of fact, I already said I would call 911 and report it, obtain a protection/restraining order, distance myself from them and finally if necessary, defend myself.

DUH!!!

Yeah, he was just defending himself. Coupla shots with a golf club, then a few swipes with a knife just to make sure.

That's some defense.

So what makes you so high and mighty? You dont know his past, things he went through, things he experienced.
Who cares we've all had a crappy life. Many of us were beaten by our parents, tortured in school had relationships fail so on etc.. I'm sure there are many here who have struggled with addictions. We did not grow up to MURDER someone with a golf club and a knife and then stuff them in a closet.

Wow, thank you very much BG.
Just so you know, I've never defended Nick (or didn't intend to). I think it's a horrible thing he did, and he should pay for it. I'm just disagreeing with the whole thing about how his mother should be responsible for it.
So, thanks for the credit. :huggy:

Hmmm... JustSomeone or sockgirl might know this one. I thought he did NOT live with his mom, but i could be wrong. I do know for a fact that not too long ago he did NOT live with his mom. So, he might have moved back home.

It might have to do with his recent PBJ for the possession charge and his mother trying to help get him back on the right track. I don't know but one thing I do know for sure is that boy's life won't be the same and a man is dead.

Well, I'm bored with speculation. I'm interested in what really happened and why this guy made the decision to kill his Ma's boyfriend. I mean, when the cops questioned him, didn't he say what happened to set him off?

Who gives a rats ass about his past, or drug use or anything else, he MURDERED someone. The only thing he should get now is a little prick in his arm.

I don't believe in the death penalty and would hire the best attorney I could afford for my child.

I know, it's much better to rehabilitate a murderer and put him back out on the street in 4 or 5 years..

Oh great let's spend millions more tax dollars to house his useless butt. What do you hope to gain by getting the greatest attorney? A shorter sentance. If you murder someone you should be murdered. It's called an Eye for an Eye.

Now that was just STUPID!!!

I will raise my son to know Right and Wrong and he will respect others. In school he will NOT start fights but he will act if someone starts one with him. BUT..When he is an adult if he does something stupid like kill someone I'm so sorry but he is on his own. There is no excuse for taking a life, unless you are saving your own!

Some of you may think I am wrong, but Murder is Murder no matter who it is. I will not see my son differently than Scott Peterson, or any other killer just because he is my son.

~Now I pray that my son grows up to be a good man~
