You, I and everyone else are in a societal covenant or contract to act first according to the laws of nature and then to those of society and state and federal government.

If I were to murder someone, I would be breaking that contract. The act of murder is detrimental to society. Society has the right to therefore deal with me in any manner whatsoever.

I don't see it that way. We put other animals to sleep who prove to be a harm to society... I think it's only right that we do the same to the human animal who is a detriment to society.
