Don't give that to my kid...

How about letting her play with the heads and the bodies seperately? Would that make you feel better?

When I was a kid I popped the head off one of my dolls and it about scared the #### out of me. The inside of a doll's head is really spooky. :guh:

So how do I discreetly drop the hint (without betraying the fact that I'm a total head case or outright offending anyone) to family and friends that if they feel like being generous toward my daughter, that I would prefer they do so in a form other than dolls, or not at all?

I think unless you say "Look, I'm a head case and these dolls freak me out, so could you please not purchase them anymore for Babygirl?" you're going to get family ignoring your requests to just buy educational toys.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you.

All I know is that I do NOT want Bubba playing with fake snakes and spiders. They totally freak me out. Even playing with a plastic snake if unacceptable. :nono:
You just filled out Bob's Christmas list

How about taking the doll out of the box, giving your child the much appreciated box, and regifting the doll?

When my oldest was eight months old I was still delusional and believed I could keep the evil purple dinosaur away. Then I learned a little bit about picking my battles.

When you look at the big picture, some battles just aren't worth fighting. Doll babies is one of them.

politely as possible, tell your closer family/friends "if you wish to purchase dolls for the christmas tree angels in my daughter's name, we'd really appreciate it. "baby's name" already has a lot of baby dolls." donate a few to the toys for tots- they'll be out in jsut a few months from now.

If you'd like to give her a gift, offer something else- a bike to scoot on next spring, or a sled for winter (hoping we get snow), bath tub toys...

Don't feel bad. I practically shoveled out the gifts from my first Christmas and second - son was born on Election day- so birthday and Christmas kind of run together. and had a second child was born 1 and a half weeks after New Year's day.

Sorry, but she received so many baby doll she has too many to play with right now. But if you like, you can donate to her college fund, just sign here. Only pennies a day, and we're offering an auto payment plan, so you won't forget how much this present means. It is automatically deducted from your paycheck, so you won't have to constantly think of writing that check every month...

I rarely know what people will give the kids before they open them. I just make sure my friends know my rules. "If you must get a doll get ones with open eyes". The closed eye babies look :dead: And it freaks me out. I really don't want anything looking at me that isn't alive. Unless it is fuzzy. Fuzzy things can have eyes. But I also don't like hands that look too spidery. Or eyes that are too glassy.

I am no help.
