What is it the other day?
My drive one way door to door is about 21 miles. Although as the crow flies I live about 2 miles from work. I have to drive in a large circle to get there :burning:

35 miles to work, about 50 minutes. Return trip, using back roads, about 40 miles and 50 minutes. A little longer, but I'm not sitting in bumper to bumper, so it's worth it to me.

My commute used to take me 1.5 plus hours one way (70 miles). Nowadays it's 20 minutes (15 miles). It's amazing how much time I actually have in a day to do things and see people and go places. I'm still in awe over the commute and it makes it all worthwhile.

I am currently about 3-4 miles away. After waiting a good bit on another opportunity to come through that still hasn't the wife and I are looking to buy. the house we are looking at now would make it a 52 mile drive one way. I say it is worth it to own my own home but wanted to see average time..

Depends what you're driving and your gas mileage and parking. That can add up to a good chunk every month. I know somebody that's paying about $1,500 a month for parking and gas.

I say try and find closer, unless you like sitting in traffic. Seriously, my commute took up so much of my life and I didn't even realize it. That's going to be time you don't get to spend with your family, friends or doing the activities that you want to after work.

It's not worth it IMO
You'll need more time to do chores when you own a house and you'll lose at least 2-3 hours a day driving 100 miles.
Don't be a slave to a piece of property.
