If it was the same thing, they wouldn't be separate violations, would they? I'm sorry you feel the need to pretend to be a cop on the internet. Been watching too much CSI lately?

Tell you what, if I get pulled over, and get arrested for having an expired license I will write you a formal letter of apology and read it during my court hearing. If I get pulled over, and don't get arrested, you have to write a formal post of apology on the forums and admit you're completely full of it. Deal?

The only problem with your argument is that I do have a license. I have been issued one, it has expired but I still have one on file. It's no different than a suspended license. It's suspended, you can't drive, but you still have a license. Driving without a license means just that, I'm driving and have never been issued a license.

no, if your license is expired you DONT have a valid license, simple as that, yes you had 1 when it was valid but it expired, so there for by LAW you dont have a valid license, subject to arrest,

I doesn't say driving without a valid license, it says driving without a license. As, I already stated. I have one, it's just expired. It's not the same thing. If you want to continue to believe you're correct, despite me having shown you all the information that says you're wrong, that's your prerogative. As for me, I'm about done with this conversation. I'm not at all concerned about being arrested, nor am I concerned about the $60.00 fine. So, enjoy the remainder of your weekend. And have fun wrongfully arresting people tomorrow because you haven't read COMAR since 1972.

If it doesn't matter that your license is expired, then why would it have an expiration date? If it didn't matter it would be good forever!

It's pretty simple i think.

So you'd arrest someone for driving without a license KNOWING that it's because a lapse on their part their license expired?

Not because they were DUI and were suspended, but you pull somoene over for doing 37 in a 35 and you put the links on them because they forgot to renew last week?

Wow, I guess some cops CAN be real asshoes. Luckily when I got pulled over I had one with more than a 6th grade education and saw my indisrcetion for what it was. A MISTAKE!

I think you're looking at this the wrong way.
If you have house insurance and it lapses and your house burns down, you're not covered. You do not have insurance.

If your car insurance expires and you have an accident, you are not covered.

If you let a medical cert expire, you are not certified.

Just because you HAD a drivers license does not mean you still have a license. You do not. It is expired. Doesn't matter if it's only the difference between paying and not paying, your skills have not changed, but you no longer have a valid license. How you get fines or not fines is up to the MVA when you re-register (obviously can go either way from previous posts) or an officer if you happen to get stopped.

Yep, you're right..

I'm afraid.. scared even. To scared to leave my house or walk across the street without calling a cop to hold my hand and help me.

Personally I'm more worried about someone with power and responsibility abusing it. Whether it's a cop or a politician. And even if they aren't the ones doing it, they aren't doing anything to stop others from abusing it.

If there is a cop out there arresting people and putting them through the hell of having to make bail, and everthing else that goes with getting arrested, for not having a license, that cop (or should I say "POLICE MAN") should not be employed by us.

This has gotten way out of hand, I simply stated that you can be arrested for driving with an expired license, yes I have seen it done numerous times, would I no, can I yes, its our descretion. yes just like tags expired on the cars, if its expired it can be towed, will it, depends who stops you,
