Feral / Semi Feral cats and kittens

I have been humanely trapping Feral cats in my daughters Neighborhood. Southern Maryland Feral Cat Rescue has been helping out with getting the Spay and Neuter done on 3 of the kittens we have caught so far. we were able to catch 1 more kitten and the mother cat (who is prego again) and 1 young adult male cat (approx 1 yr).

I would like to see the mother cat and the young adult male vetted as we have had them contained for about a week and they seem to like the attention more and more every day.

I run a very small Horse Rescue and we dont have a lot of funds available for cats, but I am doing what I can to help the community. I have agreed to foster the kittens and mother cat until a home can be found. I have two options for the mother cat. take her tomorow and get her spayed and all her kittens will be aborted, or let her have her kittens and try to rehome them all.
I'm having a hard time with this as she is pretty far along in her pregnancy. She will probably deliver within the week.

Any advice?

Bottom line: If all the cat lovers out there can donate to Feral cat rescue of southern MD on their behalf. We can get them the best care they deserve. It is not their fault that they are the product of irresponsible owners.

Try saving the Snakehead fish in the Potomac instead of cats. They're also an invasive species that kills native wildlife.

oh that's a tough one :bawl: It's of course, the right hting to do to go get her the spay. There are a billion kittens around trying to find homes.

Having said that, I wouldn't do it :killingme I just wouldn't be able to get it out of my head. so, I would let her have them and then spam everyone I know looking for homes. If you decide to do the same, I will certainly pass their photos around facebook to see if we can find them some homes.

I agree with LT - if she's that far along, I'd let her have the kittens, and then get her spayed. I'd certainly be willing to help get the kittens placed. So glad you are helping with the ferals :howdy: .

Rescue is Rescue!

I have a small horse rescue also,....barn cats and horses kinda go hand and hand.

I'm trying to place 3 equine freinds by November.
This family is loosing their farm and are unable to keep the horses. Sad situation.

....and Thanks for the offer to help!

so I have 4 adorable 4 month old kittens that have all been vetted (neuter/spay, vaccines, wormed, microchipped, treated for fleas, etc..)
They all have been gentled, are very sweet and absolutely stunning.
I have 1 young ( 1 1/2 yrs approx) adult male tuxedo (black and white) cat that after 1 week of handling has decided he likes getting his head scratched and haveing regular meals, and a clean dry place to camp out at night. And this VERY FAT PREGO Calico momma cat who is mother to the 3 kittens we had fixed last week. Im thinking the momma cat and the young adult male were litter mates. They have the same shaped face and same eyes and seem to like each other.

ANYBODY NEED A KITTEN?
ANYBODY NEED A COUPLE OF NICE BARN CATS?

Would anybody be intrested in fostering until they can be rehomed?

FERAL CAT RESCUE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS, DONATIONS,and FOSTER HOMES.

There are many adult fully vetted cats that just need a safe place to reside and someone comitted to feed them regularly.

ALL CATS AND KITTENS ARE COMBO TESTED!

TAX DEDUCTABLE DONATIONS CAN BE MADE TO FERAL CAT RESCUE ON THESE KITTENS BEHALF.

NOTE: I know many people think feral cats are a menace destroying wild life, etc...
These cats are a product of irresponsible owners: dumping their animals, refusing to get their animals spayed and nuetered, vaccinated etc...

What feral cat rescue does is commendable. They are stoping the reproductive cycle. The healthy adoptable cats are rehomed. The healty unadoptable (still a little to wild to be good pets) are found safe farms to live on. All cats and kittens are spayed-neutered, wormed, inoculated, and FIV/FELV tested.

Support them if you are able. FCR works with the community to educate and REDUCE the feral cat poplation by their TNR and adoption programs.

I saw 3 crows picking apart a live mouse this morning. I was pulling into the daycare girls driveway and they scattered, the mouse ran the 5-6 feet to the edge of the grass, as soon as I was in park the crows flew back over and went right back to picking. I'm guessing death by cat would have been much more humane.

wow they are ALL adorable and that's the mother the black/white one? Very elegant looking!

Actually the mother is the calico, mostly all white, (in the horse world we aould call her a few spot):killingme

George who is the tuxedo cat is believed to be momma cats litter mate. They are very close and about the same age. He is actually very sweet and timid, but totally comfortable around humans yet.

The orange and white tabby is a neutered male we call "Big Brother" cause he was almost a good pound larger in size than his litter mates.

The little siamese is a spayed female that we call "Buffy" very sweet and adorable. Still timid, but will sit in your lap for hours to watch TV.

The little dilute calico is a spayed female we cal "Cali", very affectionate.

The little Clasic Tabby is a spayed female we call "Scarlet," she is very Playful and curious. A fun kitty to watch. I think she has ADHD,

"Cora" is the almost all white calico that has the new litter. She will be getting spayed in about 4 weeks. She had 5 new babies: one all white, believed to be siamese, 2 reg calicos, and 2 dilute calicos. so one boy and 4 girls. :howdy:

WOW you've got quite the kitty clan there. I think my shelter kitty has a screw loose - she acts nutty and also tends to be a little slow at times LOL She will meow and cry as if she has been left alone (she'll be in the other room) and I'll have to call her over and over to get her to come to where I am and she acts surprised to see me like - OH THERE YOU ARE ... LOL
