Fetal stem cells save lives

If so...

Of course I fully believe the terrorists believe in an afterlife. In that sense...we'd all be better off if we were immortal. No sense in strapping dynamite to your waste and blowing up a bus full of people if nobody was going to die. Unless you really hate buses.

...then you understand that they are motivated that the afterlife is true, eternal life?

If you think Islamofacists hate us now, wait until they start fearing fetal stem cell research. They'll be blowing themselves up in embryo storage facilities.

And then we'll get to argue over whether they destroyed property or...life.

How exactly would you accomplish that?

...so no one can recover me.

Of course, if I exist in copy in my basement, and my copy has a copy, I guess I'll have to spend eternity killing myself.

I chuckled at that one, too. Then I realized that if he cuts his own head off, he can accomplish death.

There can be only one!

What if I have the ability...

Don't put words into my mouth. I didn't say anything of the kind, implicitly or explicitly or through various contortions of imagination. The only reason I said "brain" is because that is only organ that (currently) defines death as we know it.

The ONLY point I was making in the quoted paragraph was: death is a constant. The best we can hope to do is postpone it.

...to put words in your mouth by mixing your spare brain up with someone elses?

I am suggesting that if fetal stem cells are a panacea and can cure brain disease, grow hearts et al, it follows that actual brain function and construction are attainable as well.

Isn't that where we are trying to go? Immortality?

..and I think overall, man kind is good. You just hear about the ugly stuff all the time. Ratings, ya' know.

:cussing:

That is the 2nd time someone has associated me with "conservative" today. I haven't resorted to using personal attacks. It is just plain wrong for me to be insulted in such a manner.

....but just think; if you can live forever, you can try being a full blooded right wing nut job for a few centuries...just so you can say you gave it an honest try.

...mankind is good. Men are evil.

I don't want one that can live forever.

Being immortal does not carry an obligation to be , I hope.

I don't either. So, we deny them the same science that allows good people to live forever. How's that?

:lmao:

To be immortal is to be incapable of dying. You could hurt yourself...uglify yourself, perhaps....but not injure yourself to the point where your life ceased. That's why I don't think we'll ever achieve true immortality. There are too many ways of dying.

Fetal? How did we arrive at Fetal stem cells?

For the record, I find any sort of manipulation of foeti abhorrent.

I was unaware that repairing damage to parts of an Alzheimers wracked brain was akin to implanting fake memories, and fake identity, a la Total Recall and The 6th Day.

Indefinite Youth? yes.
Immortality? No.

Where did I say "at any cost"? You ARE trying to manipulate this conversation, and I ain't fallin' for it.

...but 50 years ago a defibulator was science fiction. Now, we got heart starters next to fire extinguishers at the mall.

Isn't it imaginable to have a(n) unit that will restart your brain?

How about repairing it as well?

And why not a way where all your brain activity is copied, in real time, so that your conscience is stored and reusable if brain #1 gets destroyed?

...human embryo's are used in fetal stem cell research, yes?

If that gives you no pause, which I think it ought to, then, I guess that's the remaining point of contention because you're already fine with immortality.
