Duh, I know, since they're building homes there and we don't like it, we'll get them to dump thousands of gallons of water into the bog and wash lots of toxic building chemicals like paint and adhesives into it. Not to mention how the extra charcoal will effect the ph level. Environmentalist wackos. :banghead:

They haven't said the cause yet, of course it is going to take time for a Fire Marshall to report the cause, but it sure sounds like it is an arson. I heard the fire trucks flying down Rt. 5 this morning like bats out of hell.

They had video on NBC4 this morning. :yikes: There is no way that many houses were on fire without arson being involved.

Those do NOT look like townhomes either. :ohwell:

It looks like it is getting ready to pour down rain here, maybe that will help the fire fighters out.

Is it because it is the holiday season?

That is seems so much worse, or highlighted, or noted, or something? As if, people losing their homes to a raging fire any other time of the year would not be horrible enough, but having it so close to Christmas seems to exponentially intensify the sadness?

Argh...

Alot of residents in the potomac heights area DO NOT want the new development in the first place and have stated such... something about it being on the edge of the Mattawoman sanctuary. (where I put my boat in ) Anyways... I'm betting it's 11 folks and each had a designated house... there's no way 11 houses just light themselves all at once :ohwell:

Regardless of the season, it's a TRAGEDY!

I am a buyer at HR, and I am waiting on edge for some news about which houses are affected.

I believe it's arson as well. How can people be so cruel?

I'm just glad there weren't people living in there at the time. :ohwell:

I just looked at the story huntr1 posted:

A team of investigators from the Maryland State Fire Marshal Office is headed to Charles County to determine what caused the fires that destroyed 12 homes in the Hunters Brooke subdivision off of Route 225.

...

All the homes were under construction and ranged in price from $400,000 to $500,000, said Taylor.

"This was a very, very affluent neighborhood under construction," Taylor said.
Twelve homes destroyed at 400-500k a pop so you're talking $5 - 6 MILLION destroyed. :yikes:

I hope they get the numbskulls that did this. If it was some radical environmentalists they should rethink their tactics. Sounds like all that fire, etc just made for a bigger environmental impact than the houses would have for another 20 years. :burning:

Looks like they are fully involved. :yikes: Since the houses engulfed in flames are basically ruined and must be torn down and rebuilt, wouldn’t it make sense to just let them burn? Easier to clean up a pile of ashes than it would to tear down a house ¾ destroyed by fire.

We heard here they are just letting them burn and only there to keep them from spreading.

I've changed my vote.........

I'm now leaning towards the underground organization ”Wetback Bro’s”. With the houses almost done and their job threatened, the wetback bro’s took action and guaranteed themselves and all of the their faithful followers Christmas money and a job until at least next July.

Massive Four-Alarm Blaze Damages 30 Homes :frown:

Maryland fire marshals now say a massive four-alarm fire totally destroyed 12 houses Monday morning, and damaged 30 others.

The fires broke out shortly before 5 a.m., in the Hunters Brook neighborhood, which is in the Mason Springs section of Charles County. And authorities say firefighters continue to battle hot spots in some of the homes.

Charles County spokeswoman Nina Voehl said, "A number of houses have been burned by fire. It's sporadic, they're not in a line, there's one here, one there."

She also said one of the houses burned was occupied, but there have been no injuries.

All the homes that burned were under construction and ranged in price from $400,000 to $500,000, said W. Faron Taylor, a deputy state fire marshal.
