They were going to burn all the houses? That just boggles my mind.

I very rarely disagree with you but I just don't see how a ten acre fire is enviromentally sound.Hessian said:No...I don't find them funny...I take satifaction in seeing them go bankrupt, get sued, and get tangled in environmental suits. They build with staple-on roofs, 2x4's that aren't actually 2x4's...they pave 2inch thick drive ways, and help thousands of illegal immigrants find work. They make lofty promises about amenities and tax benefits and dump ilegally anywhere they can, burn piles of formerly quiet woods for days and destroy archaeological sites with impunity. Their trash cracks our windshields and blows our tires. Johnny home-owner has to jump through hoops to build a sun porch but Urban Blight INC can get whatever they want by flashing cash.

What happens to them now that their contract requires them to settle on their current home? No where to live 3 weeks before Christmas....It doesn't matter that no one was living there, there are 42 families with their world crashing down around them today because of those fires...and sick people regretting that they forgot the marshmallows.
Developers can manipulate county zoning boards, commisioners and scoff at Environmental regs.
I agree with you. My heart goes out to the families that were supposed to be buying those destroyed houses. Now they are more than likely homeless.flowerchild said:AMAZING...You sound like a guy standing there with a can of accelerant in his hand. I'm not going to say that it isn't a terrible thing but isn't that why people have insurance? you make it sound like they are now going to be tossed out onto the streetsflowerchild said:AMAZING...You sound like a guy standing there with a can of accelerant in his hand. Don't hate the developers; hate the corrupt, moral-less, unethical people voted into those seats who allowed themselves to be bribed or manipulated.Hessian said:I am deeply disgusted by Developers who are able to wield so much power that they can manipulate county zoning boards, commisioners and scoff at Environmental regs.

Not the builders, no. But what about the people that contracted to purchase those houses, and have sold their current homes in order to move into the now burned hulks?Elle said:You make it sound like they are now going to be tossed out onto the streets

I saw that mentioned somewhere.. about eco-terrorists, and 10 of thousands of gallons of water laced wiht paint, oil and chemical residue being introduced into the Marsh they are trying to protect by burning down these houses.Elle said:I'm not going to say that it isn't a terrible thing but isn't that why people have insurance? you make it sound like they are now going to be tossed out onto the streets
And on another note, to the eco-turds, is setting fire to 40 homes environmentally safe?
itsbob said:Homeless?? I don't think so.. we talking 500K houses not mobile homes..
I'm sure they can afford a place to live while their houses get rebuilt.. What would a house, selling for 500K, payment be? 4 or 5 K a month? You think they can find a rental for that much while their house is being rebuilt? Hell for that I will rent to them, move out of my house and find something else for me. I'ts something like the Kuwaiti War Refugees during Desert Storm..
Again isn't this what insurance is for? I mean normally you don't sell your house unless you have a contract for a new one:shrug:Airwolf said:Not the builders, no. I CAN assume if they are buying a halfmillion dollar house they are not destitute, and can buy a place to rent if they have to to hold them over.. from what I understand is no Money (except a downpayment of 5 or 10K) changes hands until the final settlement/ closing.. So if the new owners haven't made it to closing yet, they are all still the developers houses, and the new owners haven't suffered any loss. And if their closing was conditional on the selling of their current home, that usually takes place on at least the same day as closing on the new home.. so they would void their contract and not have to move from the house they currently live in.flowerchild said:You can't assume what another families position is. If they had a specific settlement date coming up, they still hang in limbo finding a rental, etc. And, until they settle on these new homes, it's the builders' insurance that covers it, not theirs, it will take time to figure out what that covers. Most developers aren't insured to the tune of 42 losses in one day.
I'm sure things will work themselves out, but there are still a lot more people affected than the builders and NO ONE should feel like this is just a case of money hungry developers paying their just dues.
