Football Pool - Week 1

Dear Pool Administrator...

...I inadvertently mis-spelled 'PIT' on my selections concerning the Dolphins/Steelers match up. I assure you it was just an oversight on my part.

Could you please correct this when you get a chance?

Looks like Air was doing his Radar O'Reilly imitation, he knew you were gonna post.

:eyebrow: I have to wonder Lar, are you betting that the Skins will lose entirely or that the Skins will win but not beat the spread?

...is a solid, vet QB. Should make key throws and NOT make too many mistakes, exactly what we (thought) we have.

They have a new coach and sound excited.

Their preseason has given them reason to believe, even if only for one game.

They thought they were good enough to challenge last year.

They've added some pieces, especially Hutchison on the O line.

The Portis thing is becoming a thing. How much of a thing?

I see us being messy with big plays and untimely penalties. I see us struggling to run. I see a special teams mistake. I see the defense struggling on a big play or two with Springs out. A long pass interference or even a TD.

I see us having to kick a late field goal to get out of there, so, to answer your question, to me, 5 is going to be tough for us to cover.

There's just no case to be made for us to, with all we got going on and a new offense, to mow these guys down.

Watch us win by 21.

Not much.

In a surprise announcement, coach Joe Gibbs said Saturday he thinks Clinton Portis will be a backup in the Washington Redskins' Monday night opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

Gibbs was testy as he wrapped up a week of mystery over whether his star running back had recovered sufficiently from a partially left dislocated shoulder. Portis was upgraded from questionable to probable on the injury report, although Ladell Betts remains set to start. "If I had to say, I think Ladell will start and Clinton will play a backup role in the game," Gibbs said. "That's the way I think it's going to go. I think that's what we've tried to accurately portray during the week."

I started off true to form and lost my first pick. :lmao:

...EVERY game. I just want football on Sundays. Early game, afternoon game and the evening game. I'll still paint. I'll still clean the garage and go furniture shopping and run to the store. I just want games going on,at least in the background. I'm sick of home run highlights and gems of the week. Golf is over (except Ryder Cup). Tennis, pool, Texas Hold 'em and DARTS can all eff off and die.

I want Monday nights to mean I watch at least a 1/2 before I fall asleep.

I WANT FOOTBALL.

NOW.

I used to be a HUGE baseball fan, after 1992(?) it lost its sparkle and it has not returned. I got a tad excited about the Red Sox 2 years ago but the White Sox Series win, nothing.

It is strange checking the standings and seeing the Braves close to the cellar though. It has been many years since that happened. 1990 I think.

...for all of footballs faults, how many teams and their fans are thinking, legitimately, they have a shot? All of the NFC East. The Seahawks, Panthers, Bears, Bucs, Falcons and the CARDINALS. Only the Lions, 49'ers, Packers and Rams think it's a bit of a stretch. The Vikings are at least excited and the Saints might be .500.

In the AFC we got Pats, Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, Phish, the Peytons, Jacksonville, KC, Chargers and Broncos. Tennessee is excited. Houston is always excited. Cleveland is hoping. Only the Bills, Jets and Raiders are blah.

We can all name at least one player on every team and maybe can't remember the name but perhaps the number or some great plays from one or two or more...from EVERY team. Baseball?

Let us speak of these other things no more for awhile.

Jazz, I still love you, but damn, girl, baseball?

At least it ain't NASCAR.
