Would you really say they're polytheistic or do they simply refuse to endorse any one religion over anyone else's? The latter seems to be what I'm hearing/reading the most.

And Tonio... that's ok. Lots of people hate Catholics.
They are polytheistic. They believe in many gods and goddesses; Jesus, Baal, Osiis, and many others. The All-Seeing-Eye of Masonry is a representation of Osiris.

They also believe in Buddha, Moses, Confucius and many others.

A Freemason's 33rd Degree Initiation

"IT ISN'T RIGHT"
I started down the wide steps in front of the large Scottish Rite Temple, realization and conviction growing within me, reached the bottom step and stopped. Turning around, I looked back at the huge, granite building and slowly studied the words, carved in the stone across the top of the entrance: "ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE OF FREEMASONRY."

Something came clearly into focus in my understanding and I made a decision. This crisis point in my life, one which had required so many years for me to reach, passed in seconds. The truth was revealed and the choice was made - a choice that would be the difference between darkness and light, death and life, one that would last for eternity. Looking up at those words I had walked under so many times, words of which I had been so proud, I spoke to myself out loud. It was as if I were the only man in the world as I heard myself say, slowly and deliberately, "It isn't ancient, it isn't Scottish, it isn't free, and it isn't right!"

 Well, I'm not among them. Although I can see where some Catholics may think otherwise, since I believe that no institution should be above criticism, not even the Church.

I thought there was a set of "laws" you had to memorize, and able to interpret form a "language".

The whole background of Masons (not sure about freemasons) is in Biblical times they watched religous ceremonies being performed as they were building the temples They were actually stonecarvers and bricklayers (Masons) They now conduct and perform these rituals as part of their meetings and special occasions.. The problem lies in under what authority are they performing these rituals? If I watched brain surgery I'm sure you wouldn't want me to perform brain surgery on you.. same applies. They are only repeating and doing what they saw, are they complete? Are they right? Probably not.

If I'm mistaken somebody please let me know what they know!

I posted those links not because I agree with or condone what they have to say, but to show that the internet is a wealth of opinions on every subject, one one has to do is hit the searchy button thingy. There are many more sites that cover many more aspects of the FreeMasons and associated topics.

It is the 33rd degree, the last degree (many don't attain it), where a Mason learns that Lucifer is the highest god of Masonry.

The “masons” have intrigued me as well, though I never really contemplated joining.

I guess I always look at these type of groups (Free Masons, Moose, Elks, Lions, etc…) as a way to get out of the house and away from a nagging wife. And unfortunately for the groups, I love being around my “non-nagging” wife.

BTW, does anyone know what the 33 is all about with the masons? I knew one and he refused to tell me… What’s’ that all about?
33 x 20.2 = 666.6

Hence, the pentagram or upside down five point star that is part of Masonic symbols. And it is the pentagram that is used as the symbol of the Congressional Metal of Honor.

Did you know that the symbols of the Masons are laid out in the streets of Washington, D.C.? Did you know that the Masonic Temple in D.C. is exactly 13 blocks north of the exact center of the White House? There is a pentagram formed by the streets of Washington with the inverted point pointing south directly at the White House which is at the the tip of the southern point.

Washington, D.C. was originally surveyed by Masons. George Washington, as I remember it, was the youngest Mason inducted. He was inducted at the age of twenty.

So my assessment is, as soon as the effort was made to found a nation on Christian Principles, Satan got his claws into the soft flesh of a young nation.

CLINTON SEEKS OUT VOODOO CEREMONY TO ESCAPE IMPEACHMENT AND ENSURE 1996 REELECTION -- CLINTON'S FATAL LEADERSHIP SERIES, 6G

<DIR>Consistent with his own practice of Illuminist Witchcraft, President Clinton sought a Voodoo ceremony in Haiti in March, 1995, in order to protect him from his Impeachment foes and to ensure his reelection. This report confirms our earlier assertion that Clinton is a practicing Illuminist Witch.

I love this stuff! It satisfies my inner conspiracy theorist. But I have to honest - I don't believe a word of it because I don't believe in Satan and witchcraft and other such nonsense.

When I was in high school, my girlfriend had a set of tapes by a guy named John Todd (not sure on that name, I'll have to call her to confirm). Anyway, he was a former Satanist who found God and went around giving talks about the Illuminati and the Masons and how the highest branches of our government are controlled by Satan. That was the first time I ever really looked at a dollar bill. :yikes:

He also talked about various celebrities and entertainers that received their fame through Satanic means.

Anyway, he was assasinated a few years after he started giving his lectures and gaining publicity, which kind of freaked me out. We listened to those tapes over and over - they were simply fascinating.

This thread is getting too bizarre even for me. I like the "Da Vinci Code" stuff because I'm interested in Christian theologies that run counter to the established orthodoxy. But I've been anti-conspiracy-theory ever since I tried reading a couple of UFO magazines in the '70s.
