Here's another example of what's wrong in this day and age...
Someone does something wrong and all they can think of is how they can Blame someone eslse or Get out of it. No one fess'es up and takes the responsibility.

My opion: Pay the ticket or community service and slow down.

So it was 2 points then. Freaking great. That's what I get for following the speed of the traffic around me.

I've learned the hard way about speeding tickets. The points add up quickly and your insurance rates shoot up as well. Its best just to slow down. There's no way I'd be doing 20 mph over the speed limit no matter what the flow of traffic is now. People would just have to pass me or I'd be in front and the one establishing a new speed of traffic.

If you know you were speeding why would you ask for the radar to be checked? It sucks to be singled out but you were breaking the law.

I expected the "take responsibility" posts so here is my response. It was an honest mistake done under safe conditions and I am unusual in that I stubbornly drive no more then 5 mph over the limit on normal streets and 10 on the freeway despite the people going far faster all around me.

Yes I was guilty of the letter, but I don't believe I deserve it. A warning would have been more appropriate, though I don't fault the officer for it since he wouldn't have known how slow I normally drive.

So slowing down is not a problem, that was a one-time thing.

I didn't see a post where it said how fast you were going? ?? MPH in a ?? MPH zone?

Anyone have any experience with tickets in King George, VA. Hubby got a reckless driving ticket and any advice on other ways to deal with it, i.e. community service or anything besides hefty fine and points are appreciated.

It was 50 in a 30 I think. Personally I think 30 is a bogus speed for this road though. Two lane road that goes through several miles in an unpopulated area where all the houses are more than 50 feet from the road. You know those ritzy nooks with the big houses that you can find sometimes.

They were saying that the attorney general would help, but they didn't say whether it was state or county attorney general. I don't know. What do I do in AA county?

Call the State's Attorney's Office for AA county and ask them about community service.

I thought that 20MPH over the posted speed limit is considered reckless driving. Someone please set me straight.

My last big ticket before changing my ways and getting into hypermiling was I think around 45 mph over the speedlimit. :faint: I don't recall them charging me with reckless driving  Then again, I was still in shock at the point talley and fine for that ticket and I still don't agree I was going that fast. But I don't recall the officer using the term reckless driving - heck he didn't even cite me for not wearing a seatbelt. Maybe that's something that depends on the officer
