Help for a stray

I think someone is donating $200. That should get her through the initial stuff. If not, all she has to do is ask. We get a collection plate out there. :yay:

I've commited $200 towards her vet bills. Forking over some $$ is the least I can do. Afterall, DG has the hard part. This poor cat didn't stand a chance in her previous situation.

That's very generous. DG may have the hard part, but money is what pays the bills. :yay:

Wow! what awesome teamwork!:yahoo: kudos to you guys!

I am sure that many of us would be willing to chip in a few donations if needed.. even the small ones add up! just let us know

Here's this poem again

I've been wracking my brain trying to remember where I'd seen this poem and couldn't remember to save my life! Duhhhh....it was right here on the forum. It seems fitting for this thread...... :)

I would've died that day
if not for you.

I would've given up on life
if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear
if not for your gentle hands.

I would have left this life
believing that all humans don't care.

Believing there is no such thing
as fur that isn't matted;
Skin that isn't flea bitten;
Good food -and enough of it;
Beds to sleep on,
Someone to love me-

To show me I deserve love
just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile,
your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me…

You saved me from
the TERROR of the pound,
Soothing away
the memories of my old life.
You have taught me
what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same
for other dogs and cats like me.
I have heard you
ask yourself in times of despair
Why you do it.

When there is no more money,
no more room, no more homes.
You open your heart a little bigger,
stretch the money a little tighter
Make just a little more room
to save one more like me.

I tell you with the gratitude
and love that shines in my eyes
In the best way I know how,
Reminding you why you go on trying.

I am the reason
The dogs and cats before me are the reason
As are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted, our love never given
We would die if not for you.

How is Gertie doing? I had a dream last night that she became a beautiful cat with long shiney fur ... honest, I did! In my subconscious, I guess I can see it happening!

I bet when she gets better she will be a very pretty kitty!! On that note, Oh Dos Gattos, any updates on Gertie??

We took another trip to the vet today. We had to pick up her medication. Gertie is now on Steroids and Antibiotics. She has been tearing herself up and pulling chunks of her skin off. The steroids should help with the itching and the antibiotics should clear up the infection. Hopefully, her hair will grow back soft and fluffy. She has become quite a feisty kitty!! She is very playful and quite loving. I can't wait to see how much more her personality develops. She is going to make someone a wonderful pet.

this is a direct quote from Gertie:

"Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin' my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay"

We had to put a cone on her due to the fact that she was chewing chunks of her flesh off. She looks sad with the cone on but it is working. She doesn't mind it too much!! She just looks pathetic!

Those *lampshades* do look pathetic but it will be good to let her heal and grow her fur back!
