Roll over sista! You are next! Be prepared to provide a Happy family version of SOMD where the forum link doesn't show!vraiblonde said:How is that ignorance?
If anything, this is a case of Hollywood trying to shove its depravity down our throats, not people like me trying to censor them. Why would directors have a problem releasing toned down versions of their movies? You'd think they'd have thought of it int he first place to broaden their audience and make more buckage.
Does your DVD remote have a channel selector? If you press the up/+ button if will skip to the next scene.Sharon said:What's so bad about it? There's nothing wrong with having a device to automatically fast-forward/skip scenes you don't want to see (for whatever reason). It sounds to me like they are trying to take back the responsiblilty of family viewing.
From the article:

I also support measures like the Family Movie Act (H.R. 4586) that affirm the right of citizens to purchase and use in the privacy of their homes technology that allows them to skip or mute over objectionable content in legally purchased or rented DVD movies.

So what? They'll make it back with larger distribution. Every year the BIGGEST box office/rental/purchase movies are PG or PG-13 ones. Shrek. Star Wars. LOTR. You'd think Hollywood would get a clue and realize that there's a bigger market for family entertainment than there is for the trash they try and shove down our throats.Sparx said:Because it's just going to run up the cost of movie making for everyone.
We don't use swear language in my house. I limit what we watch as a family. As a result, there is a very limited choices of interesting movies. If I had a device available that would "edit" movies or had access to an "editted" version, I would definately do so. Heck, music CDs aleady have been doing this for years... you can get an editted version of some popular CDs simply by purchasing them at Walmart verses a music shop. :shrug:Kain99 said:Absolute lazy parenting! They should all be shot!
Wooo! That's telling me!Tonio said:Just go stick your head in a toilet and gargle, OK?
I'm sure the little voices told you all about it, huh?I know what I'm talking about when it comes to code, having been exposed to a lot of it growing up.
Do you hear voices that describe the "code" to you?Tonio said:Just go stick your head in a toilet and gargle, OK? Your single brain cell must get lonely inside your empty head. If you read the article, violence is OK so Lethal Weapon would still be a good movie. Danny Glover's daughter making the condom commercial might be cut, but all the blood an killing is cool for kiddies to watch.Kain99 said:What? Do ya think this comes Free? I think it is utter nonesense that these idiots want family happy verisons of Lethal Weapon! My God! What do they see... 5 minutes? It's just sheer stupidity and yes it drives me to wanna scream!
They promote it because we buy it! And yes Mike... It's kinder and gentler now that we have the private forums to hook and swing in...... Vrai aint no dummy and I guarantee shes's playing devils advocate.vraiblonde said:So what? They'll make it back with larger distribution. So, since it's obviously not about money, why do you suppose they keep promoting the crap they do?
And why would I care about that? How would it hurt me in any way, shape or form?Kain99 said:Roll over sista! You are next! Be prepared to provide a Happy family version of SOMD where the forum link doesn't show!
K you are a great Momma.... YOu do realize they got to school each day and hear these words right? It's a matter of raising...Not a matter of avoidance.kwillia said:We don't use swear language in my house. I limit what we watch as a family. No, the voices say, "Don't listen to Pete. The crap on your shoes is more intelligent than he is."Pete said:Do you hear voices that describe the "code" to you?
Well lets start with the PIA factor..... SOMD is currently instantly available. New stupid ignated laws and one must sign up...Not to mention the nightmarish code you will have to write to filter the normals from the non-normals.....vraiblonde said:And why would I care about that? So you were at that party too. :shrug:Tonio said:No, the voices say, "Don't listen to Pete. The crap on your shoes is more intelligent than he is."
I understand from your kids that you're a bad mother.vraiblonde said:I'm sure the little voices told you all about it, huh?![]()
Yep. I do realize it. Just like I realize my son gets to play Grand Theft Auto or watch whatever is allowed at his friend's home when he visits his friend's house. But I still believe it sends a message when I don't back down when it comes to what I deem acceptable in my home. He is only 12, but he respects that...:shrug:Kain99 said:K you are a great Momma.... I guess thats my point.
Um, Kain? If we were to filter the normals from the non-normals...well, let's just say that I'd miss both you and Tonio.Kain99 said:Not to mention the nightmarish code you will have to write to filter the normals from the non-normals.....
