If anything, this is a case of Hollywood trying to shove its depravity down our throats, not people like me trying to censor them. Why would directors have a problem releasing toned down versions of their movies? You'd think they'd have thought of it int he first place to broaden their audience and make more buckage.

What's so bad about it? There's nothing wrong with having a device to automatically fast-forward/skip scenes you don't want to see (for whatever reason). It sounds to me like they are trying to take back the responsiblilty of family viewing.

I don't have any problem with rated/unrated versions of movies or the FCC enforcing guidelines for TV family viewing times. What I object to is being forced to pay for the latest "Nanny technology" wether I want it or not.
TV is a profit driven market. If you support the advertisers of the Disney channel and let the advertisers of shows like Desperate Houswives that you won't be using their products due to their support of a show that contradicts your values, you'll get results without government interference in the market.

So what? They'll make it back with larger distribution. Every year the BIGGEST box office/rental/purchase movies are PG or PG-13 ones. Shrek. Star Wars. LOTR. You'd think Hollywood would get a clue and realize that there's a bigger market for family entertainment than there is for the trash they try and shove down our throats.

So, since it's obviously not about money, why do you suppose they keep promoting the crap they do?

We don't use swear language in my house. I limit what we watch as a family. As a result, there is a very limited choices of interesting movies. If I had a device available that would "edit" movies or had access to an "editted" version, I would definately do so. Heck, music CDs aleady have been doing this for years... you can get an editted version of some popular CDs simply by purchasing them at Walmart verses a music shop. :shrug:

Yep. I do realize it. Just like I realize my son gets to play Grand Theft Auto or watch whatever is allowed at his friend's home when he visits his friend's house.
