If you know where they live I would most definitely have a talk with the parents. Can't assume the kid will tell them what happened.

good point... She did deserve a swift kick to the ass... I guess it kind of startled me b/c I have never had problems with dogs, especially boxers. I've never really seen a dog trying to pull away from the owner and bite someone. It was different and not what I expected on a Monday afternoon stroll through the community... Like I said, I was actually going to pet the dog...

It's always good to ask first. Kids see Bear and they remark how big he is, then ask if he's friendly, then they want to pet him.

The mom was out there too... She was holding two other small dogs on leashes... She was the one who was like, "He bit you." I was like heck yeah he did, see the blood. She asked for my information, but I was like don't worry about it, just learn how to hold your dog. It wasn't until I walked a little further and started reflecting on the situation that it started to #### me off.

Did you ask the girl if you could pet her dog?

You never turn your back on a dog that you think is exhibiting aggressive behavior.

A dog on a leash can feel threatened...that you are coming into its territory -- and they are protecting the person at the other end of the leash.

Granted, it sounds as if the owner wasn't experienced with handling the dog but it also sounds as if some fault lies with you as well.

Was this the first incident? You should report the dog bite and hopefully, if this dog has a problem, the owners will seek training to remedy the problem.

Not dead yet.
Report the dog to the HOA and animal control. Talk with the parents.

About the earlier post with boxers running loose in the neighborhood - they would encounter the three S's on my property. I own two dogs and keep them disciplined and under control. If you can't do that or don't have the time to, you shouldn't own them.

Hmmm. bit by a boxer. Did she call the dog "Tyson?"

Rabies shots are NOT given in the stomach (and haven't been for many years) and are NOT painful. The very first shot stings but the rest of the shots in the series are no worse than any shot and, yes, I've had them.

He was on a leash and appeared to be just wanting attention so as we were walking by, I kind-of leaned over a little and was going to let him sniff my hand and then pet him. I had my hand cupped upward too... Then I saw that the fool was trying to bite at my hand so I moved it and turned to keep walking. The dumb girl (acting like she couldn't hold the dog) let him pull her and as we kept walking he bit me on the back of my ankle, just above my heel. I was like, "oh no he didn't."

Well, you know what they say?

If the dog doesn't like you, you are no dayum good. You probably deserved it. If I was a dog, I'd bit you.

It was a series of shots, and I'm almost sure they did them in my hip each time. I was 17 at the time. NOT a pleasant experience!!

To add to what Catt said - the shots were like any other shot, but having to go each week for the series was a nuisance. Even though I'm not 'scared' of needles, it was no fun doing it each week!

There is sure a lot of drama here considering ceo was only NIPPED by a dog.

I didn't pet him.. Just kept walking and kind of leaned forward a little to stick my hand down. Then I saw that the rat was snapping at my hand. So I raised my hand and walked more to the side. She then let the dog pull her again he came around behind me.... I don't think you can point a finger at me...

It was a little more than a nip.. I've been harrassing my dog before and gotten nipped.. This was no nip and if it would have happened to a child (who couldn't move quickly) it would have been worse...

Thanks for the input... I've got to swing by their house and get their address. I'll call the HOA and report it... Hopefully it prevent the possibility of some child being bit...

My mother use to have little ankle bitting poodles. I'm sure the little mark on the back of ceo's ankle will heal overnight. It is most likely a nick.

The owner at the very least will ward off people coming over to pet the dog on a leash. And next time, ceo, if you want to pet a dog go home and pet your own.
