But you were in the back of the traffic jam... I don't think it was up to you to pass everyone up... those in front of you I think out of courtesy should have had the right of way  I'd never think to look behind me when passing someone  generally my pedal is to the metal trying to hurry up and get in front of car in front of me.... If I do have three cars in front of me going slow I pass them ONE AT A TIME. Moreover, I think if you had hit the van from behind while both trying to pass at the same time, it would have been your fault and negligence. Regardlesss, glad you weren't hurt ...
You must have missed the part where she said she owned the road and it was some stupid slow poke 3 or 4 cars in front of her (her DH). And she Thought she would pass all of them Since it was her fault that she was (running late again) and has a fast car (hey... it's a screaming fast benz-right?) Just thank god she had defensive driving (ambulance driver/emt). Now she will be keeping a look out in the Ridge area for this ahole she allmost killed and tell them she is sorry

...........now to be able to relate the horrifying--pee my pants----experience I had this morning.

Here I am tooling up 235 North bound to work  , slow poke in front of me. Thought I would pass (running late again) (hey... it's a screaming fast benz-right?) As I come up along side of the beige/tan colored van (chevy Astrovan?) he/she decides to pass the car in front of it! DIDN'T BOTHER TO LOOK AROUND OR SEE ME ALONG SIDE HIM :yikes: in the south bound lane........... Thank god I have had defensive driving (ambulance driver/emt) and I quickly went further to my left onto the side of the road...... I am LEANING ON MY HORN. DUMBASS never saw me........or heard me.

Meanwhile, my DH is in front of the van (couple cars ahead actually) and saw me pull out with my blinker on to pass, then doesn't see me anymore.......
whew. He finally did when I passed him.

I'll be keeping a look out in the Ridge area for this ahole and when I catch up to him or her they will get a piece of MY mind.....:burning: :moon:

OK.....I'm there done venting

and my pants are finally dry too!:yay:

Was this you?

Yep, that sums it up.

Suz, I do not like what you did one bite. I have seen far too many serious/fatal motor vehicle accidents to even think what you did would be considered "safe" driving. :boo:

How would you have felt had you killed somebody rushing to get where you were going?

Its a truck... and NO I don't look in rearview mirror before I pass an oncoming vehicle... you are supposed to be studying the pass in front of you to make sure there are no oncoming cars... certainly not looking behind you.:ohwell: Even if I did pass you and you came flying up the wrong side of the road and hit me I believe you would be at fault... you were the one that hit me from behind.

Wrong. You should be aware of what is going on around you at all times.

WTF does everyone keep saying 90... it was 70 in a 35... of which I tried several times to go 70 in that little bitty stretch coming off the incline and I have yet to make it past 55 without lossing control of the truck... maybe there was a reason the officer asked me... "do you know how fast you were going" I keep trying but there is just no way I was going that fast. Also, I think he ripped up the ticket or something. Havn't heard anything about that since... nonetheless... it wasn't passing three cars infront of me going up the wrong side of the road:ohwell:

Right :yay: There could be emergency vehicle's coming up behind you, you never know until you glance and see what is back there.

but still... isn't it true that if you rear end someone generally it is your fault... they are directly in front of you versus the person in front does not see you unless having to look

You need to study traffic law and the rules of passing. FIRST you look in your rear view mirror then your side mirrior then your blind spot BEFORE pulling out!!! Despite what many believe, rear enders are not ALWAYS the guy behind's fault. If I am making a perfectly legal pass and your dumazz pulls out on me, I will own you & your paycheck for life!

I may have missed something in this madness, BUT, I think she said that she was trying to pass a minivan on the LEFT (the appropriate side and NOT 3 or 4 cars). At the same time, the minivan decided that HE was going to also pass the car in front of it, causing Suz to have to go into the shoulder of the ONCOMING traffic. Capisce? She had her turn signal on.

Where did the rest of this come from?

No :ohwell: If you pull out in front of somebody who just might be passing you then it is your fault. You said that you don't look *ahem* when you go to overtake another car/pass. My point is there could be emergency equipment or another vehicle coming up behind you. There is nothing that important to get to if you have to rush to get there, because the bottom line is it does nobody any good if you don't make it.

And not 3 cars at the same time, Pete.

And when she posted "along side of them", I think she meant the car she was trying to pass, on the left, with her turn signal on, when it ran her off of the road, into the shoulder of the oncoming traffic.

I'm saying generally I think the rule of thumb should be you yield to the cars or car in front of you... Does someone have the exact rule on this? Post a poll???? Kwillia -- no my search thingy isn't broken... I just got a crap load of work to do... if not I'll look it up later. My point was just because someone cuts you off it does not give you the legal right to speed up to hit the person which I am kind of equivacating this to be.
Thanks
See y'all :howdy:

be nice now pete--- If the van hadn't tried to run me off the road there wouldn't have been a problem.........

Sounds like she tried to pass 3 cars to me.
