I've even heard of people speeding up to avoid the pass to just be buttholes, because they took offense to somebody trying to pass them.

I've had that happen to me. Luckily, I always give myself plenty of room to pass and I can easily out-accelerate most cars (at least the ones that drive slow). Accelerating when someone is making a lawful pass is against the law (if anyone was wondering).

Of course accelerating when somebody is making a lawful pass is against the law. The same way drinking and driving is against the law, speeding, whatever, but people do it anyway. The results are almost always fatal too.

GOMA already... I have stated that generally I know if there are cars behind me or not... just as being a defensive driver... but if I go to pass I don't expect 10 others cars to pass at the same time... I'm saying both Suz and the guy in the van had the exact same idea at the exact time... and if Suz had hit the van in front while passing she would have been liable because she hit him from behind... she is expected to see what is unfolding directly in front of her.

I only pass if I'll still be going in the correct direction in the lane as I'm passing. I never pass where I'll be in the oncoming traffic lane.

I'm still not sure exactly what happened here with Suz. Did she pass on the left, going into the oncoming traffic lane? Or did she simply change lanes, still on the right side of the road?
