Thanks, MD Unemployment, effing "stimulus" checks, Larry Hogan and life in general. As a blue collared worker that has contributed to keep the MD economy afloat, I now owe approximately $750.00 between State and Federal Taxes!! Wow, let's just stick it to the poor, working people. Can't get blood from a stone, so this whole ordeal ought to be interesting. I knew all this was too good to be true. I make a decent living wage and I am upset. I can't imagine what the average person, other than myself, is going to endure. Guess the old saying, "when it's too good to be true" holds some merit. One. Angry. Biotch.

Except on mine!

I helped a family member navigate Md.'s UI website and they collected what they were eligible for. They never got any statement during the year, just an email of what was deposited. Only when they got their 1099 form last week was it known for sure that taxes had been withheld.

I filled out the witholding form when applying. I got the 1099 form last week and NO taxes had been withheld.

I just loaded up TurboTax, but still missing a few key pieces of tax info, so can't really start yet. Curious how it will ask and treat the relief funds. Everything else should be the same as last year, no unemployment or other differences.

Just FYI. Completed my taxes. Regarding the relief money, TurboTax asked what I actually received in both 2020 and 2021. It then compares that to your filed income and determines if you got ALL that you were supposed to get. It did not change my credits, deductions or income in any way. I suspect if you did NOT get all you were entitled to, it would have helped you file a “recovery rebate credit”.
