Does anyone else feel like me, that many of the brown-colored Maryland tourism road signs (put up in 2007) were put up by IDIOTS? For example,
Coming north on Route 301 from the Harry Nice Bridge into Maryland by the Motel, a brown sign says to get to "Western Chesapeake Shore" turn right onto Route 234 Budds Creek Road. Don't they realize that Baltimore and Annapolis are located on the Western Chesapeake Shore? Are they directing all traffic going to Baltimore and Annapolis to leave 301 and turn onto Route 234 into St. Mary;'s County?
And, coming east on Hawthorne Road (225) at Route 301 in LaPlata by the Shell station, another sign says "Western Chesapeake Shore, turn right" onto Route 301 south (toward Virginia). Again, Baltimore and Annapolis are on the Western Chesapeake Shore. Why are they directing traffic headed for those cities, to go south toward the Harry Nice Bridge? The same sign also says to "Potomac Corridor, turn left" (north) and to "Patuxent Corridor, turn right (south). This is ambiguous, since parts of the Potomac River (like Leonardtown) are to the south, not the north. And parts of the Patuxent River (like Bowie, Laurel, and Upper Marlboro) are to the north, not the south.
