The only thing I can think of is not a popular idea. More red light cameras, and then more speed traps until they can get "speed cameras" like those being used in D.C. installed everywhere.

I would enforce the "politness" laws. Use your turn signnals, don't run red lights, passing on the sholder and stay out of the left lane if you're not turning or passing. The stuff that pizzs folks off and causes them to do the same in turn.

Seriously, though, I think a campaign against aggressive drivers would be a good start. Instead of speed traps have units on the lookout for tailgating, switching lanes unsafely and excessively and running red lights.

How about we just put a big sticker on the cars of speeders too, and then we can herd them all together into "camps" and then....

Every time you are caught speeding, instead of a fine, you get a new restrictor plate for your cars manifold. Smaller each time. Pretty soon you'll be struggling to keep up with the flow.(pun intended)

Agreed. Tim Cameron apparently is busting on Dave Zylak for not doing "more" about domestic violence.

What does that mean? And what exactly does he think Zylak should be doing about it? And, more importantly, what does HE intend to do about it if elected?

I mean, will he oversee everyone's love life? Prohibit women from dating men who are abusive? Lock up abusers and throw away the key, even if they have to pry Mama from his leg to do it?

I assume it was in reaction to that shooting over in Westbury, but I fail to see how Zylak could have prevented that in any way.

True, vehicle collisions are the #1 cause of death in SMc, maybe old age is #1 but you get my drift.

How many people would still be alive in CY 06 if there were no accidents?

If it were me, I'd put pressure on judges to actually sentence traffic offenders instead of sloughing them off or giving them a pat on the rear. Some bonehead causes an accident because he was driving aggressively or drinking or whatever, and the judge doesn't take away his license because then how's the guy going to get to and from work (or whatever)?

I say that's their problem - they should have thought of that before they got behind the wheel. You read all the time about people with 6 and 7 DWIs still out on the roads. Dozens of speeding tickets and still on the road.
