Is all of this even legal??

If you fear getting sick and dying of this phantom virus, stay home. Who cares.

So you are fussing about everyone following the precautions and calling it a phantom virus, but what if you knew someone who died from it? Because I do know someone who died from what you call "phantom". He didn't have pre-existing medical conditions. And he had a wife and kids who were not able to be with him in the hospital to comfort him or say good-bye. This "phantom" virus killed their husband and father. He is just one of an alarming number of deaths that continue to happen. I see the government's actions as trying to protect us rather than trying to control us. And that is the reason that I am abiding by the orders that have been put in place. I sincerely hope that no one you know or love is killed by this virus, but maybe you would feel differently if that was the case.

Narrator: Little did he know It was perfectly legal to fish for sustenance from your boat.

In my mind, when I see "Narrator:", anything that follows is voiced by Morgan Freeman.

And it fit so perfectly with the above line.

I know someone who died of cancer. Several someones, in fact.

I know two people off the top of my head who were murdered by a stranger, and I know a woman who was beaten to death by her ex-husband. I know a man who died of AIDS, and two women who died of sudden aneurysm - literally were fine, then developed a headache and were dead within a day. I've lost track of how many people I know who died of heart failure.

Everybody knows someone who died of something, and we didn't shut down the whole country and put people on the streets because of it.

Of course we all know someone who died. My point was that you called this a phantom virus. It is new, there isn't a vaccine or treatment, people are contracting it and dying from it quickly. All of the causes of death you mentioned weren't contagious, with the exception of AIDS. It just struck a nerve with me that you called it phantom when I personally know someone who died from it without the comfort of his family being with him in the end. I was skeptical when first hearing about the virus. Knowing someone who died from it made it very real to me. That was my point.

I know twice as many people who've died of sudden aneurysm than you know who died of COVID. Why don't you care?

You either didn't read or comprehend what I said. So never mind. Continue on with your rant about how this infringes on your right to do what you want when you want to do it. Because it is obviously about you.

People like you are shutting down the country, causing 10 million people to lose their jobs and try to take care of their family on unemployment, shuttering countless small businesses....

...and somehow it's all about me?

Alright.

And now I will happily put you on the "do not reply" list with regard to this topic. I don't enjoy discussing with the self-absorbed.

Life is terminal. It sucks when anyone dies. I wanted the entire world to shut down when my Dad died of cancer last year. Perfectly healthy one day, six months later dead. Look at that poor little girl over in Calvert County who recently died from the flu.

I am fortunate that my families income is not at all effected by any of this, but man, how are these private businesses going to be able to dig out from under this? Restaurants are able to eek by with providing take-out but you look at the hair dressers, the nail salons, folks in the medical field that work in offices that do elective procedures. The list goes on and on. It is terrible that the government can come in and financially ruin these people.

Was there any comorbidity with the person you knew?

It would be highly unusual if there wasn't.

Ninety-five percent of New York City’s almost 200 deaths from the new coronavirus had underlying health conditions, though almost half were under the age of 75, according to data published by the city’s health department on Tuesday.

The deaths, as well as data on cases and hospitalizations, mimic the patterns found in other cities with major outbreaks.
