Is Jesus a black man?

Earthy and earthly are equally correct. One form is older than the other. The Hebrews are THE Jews. They are olive skinned - denoting shades of medium toned white skin with small hints of yellow and green. Any nationality can be Jewish by religion. Only Hebrews are Jewish by heritage.
Why are you bothering to converse with a guy who apparently has never heard of someone with olive skin and isn't aware that Jewish is an ethnicity as well as a religion?

I read that and just laughed, then thought about quoting it in my sig line.

Solomon's declaration, I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem' (Sol, I, 5), is often cited as referring to Christ. According to the bible itself, then, Jesus Christ was a black man. Let us suppose that at some future time he makes his second advent to the earth, as some Christians anticipate he will do, and that he comes in the character of a sable messiah, how would he be received by our Negro hating Christians of sensitive olfactory nerves. Would they worship a Negro God?

WoW this sounds like something JPC would post!
Were all one race! From the same parents.
At least thats what my Bible teaches. (Adam and Eve)

The Song of Solomon is nothing more than an Erotic story, a fitting passage for the Bible eh?
The entire point of this passage is describing how he is Darker/Blacker than the norm. Otherwise his darkness wouldnt be a subject for discussion. If the shade of his skin wasnt any darker than other men, there would be no reason to explain that he is Dark (yet still beautiful)

I get completely annoyed with people who spout off about the Bible, yet have obviously never read it and have no idea what they're talking about. This is why, when I see certain names have started a thread in Religion or have the last post, I don't even click because I know it's just going to be more silliness from the atheist zealots.

Today, for some reason, I have decided to torture myself by reading this thread. Somebody stop me.

You can't, rightly, pull out a verse and make it say what you want it to.

,...... You should not go and run with a misinterpretation. That's how heresies propagate.

SO, seeing how pastors, priests, and religious zealots do this daily, what are you trying to say??

Just like extracting two or three verses from the bible to convince everyone, Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are all one and the same??

What a coincidence that you'd be the one to say it.

Would you be satisifed if there are about 104 verses that substantiate the trinity?

And there are also as many that say they are seperate beings.

There is a TRINITY.. meaning three. It does not mean all three are the same one.. That would be a one-ity.

But seperate the verses you speak of from the text, take them out of context, and tell everyone what you think they mean.. I mean everyone else does it, so can you!

How many religions believe the Trinity are one and the same?

Hey Vrai, I've lived in Israel where they have, among other things, Jews and olives. Never saw any olive colored people. Saw lots of olive colored olives tho'.

I've asked this before, and still waiting to hear, If the errors are due to translation, and there are errors, how can you trust the trustworthiness of the Book if the translation ITSELF isnt trustworthy?

Are you allowed to ask this question in the Religion forum? I thought we have to accept that things are true because we are told they are and to have faith...not use logical analysis on it

Yes, you are allowed to ask that question in the Religion forum.

Yes, you have to accept that things are true because you are told they are.

Now you have to pick out one of the brazzilion (thanks GWB) preachers out there and base your faith on his or her translation! Now go, and sin no more.

I have to be honest...It has been weird lately having you actually respond to other people's posts instead of posting your own thread and never going in again  Do you post now because there is no more karma? :lmao:

Have you considered the term "olive" is used to describe their skin type and not necessarly the actual color. Sort of like calling an African-American BLACK. Their skin isn't really black. Or a red-headed person; their hair is really an orange color not red.

nhboy seem to have had the experience of living in Israel without the benefit of learning much from it.
