Is Park Dodge in trouble?

Please note, I'm not saying they are, I'm asking if they are. I cruise through once in a while, to see if the have any interesting models. The new Challenger is in the showroom for instance. The last few passes, the lot is looking kinda bare. Like less than 1/3 of the vehicles he used to have.

I know inventory changes, but this has been almost a month that Ive seen this. Anyone know anything?

It's a business. Times are economically challenging for the consumer, so sales are not there. You cannot expect the dealer to purchase a whole lot full of cars that he knows he cannot sell....

Personally, I can't stand going to a car lot that is so crammed full you can't even move around. They can pretty much get you anything you want anyway, so no need to have a ton of redundant inventory cluttering up the place, IMO.

But other lots are still full. And if you dont have, you cant sell'em. I'm wondering of the Waldorf bunch is starving him for inventory to drive him out, so they can whats basically a monopoly in this area. They have swallowed everone except for L-Town Ford and Bell.

That's it. Or use an on-line service to pick one out and have it available at that dealer.

The "Waldorf bunch" owns L'town Ford.

Damn, I missed them swallowing L-town. Aps, depends on model, each plant has a different shutdown and changeover schedule, so new models appear based on that. He hasnt cleared the lot in previous years, so I'm not sure if thats valid, might be, though.

Thanks for the insight Kom, that was helpful. :smack:

Bell isn't going away. They're the oldest dealership in the world; if their advertising is to be believed.

Having owned a Dodge (regretfully) and hearing tales of woe from others I stand by my opinion. When a service manager tells you "83,000 is a lot of miles for a motor, what do you expect?" you tend to lose faith in the brand.

Ive owned a few also, and a few Fords, and some Chevies. None were any worse than any others. So, you base your thoughts on a few people, one service writer, and one personal experience.

I certainly place no faith in anything said by a service writer, or tech. Service writers are like salesguys, they will say whatever they think will get the customer to pay the most with the least amount of complaining.

Techs, Ive found a couple I trust, but very few. Now, can we get back on topic, evidently, nobody knows why Park has so few cars on the lot. I was hoping someone had facts, since we seem to have at least one person who is, or knows someone, in every field of endevour, but not this time. Oh well.

If the economy is bad they are not going to order as many cars that they usually do. It's only business. It only makes sense. No one is really looking to buy if they are broke due to the economy. I would be stupid to have a ton of cars on your lot just sitting there. JMHO :howdy:

Dodge makes crappy cars. Nobody wants them so why stock them?

That was my thought.

Even the manufacturer admits they make crappy cars, by saying their residual value (how much THEY think their car will be worth in 3 years) on a lease is so low they won't lease any more.

Toyota residuals are between 50 and 65%.. Dodge used to be about 35%.

$20,000 Toyota would be worth between $10 and 13,000 while the same priced Dodge would be worth only $7000 in 3 years.

My first new car was a '72 Chevy Vega.
Other then a '78 CJ7 jeep, it was also the last time I purchased an American brand auto.
For the most part, I can get a lot more of what I want from an import for the money.
