A couple of days ago a discussion was about the C word . I am a firm believer that the C word by itself is really lacking , when you add " ignorant or pompous " just before it, it adds a lot to the conversation and meaning.

With Joy you would need to use both though!
I like her, she's spicy. You just have to remember that she's never going to be right about anything.

'White guy employment act'

MSNBC host Joy Reid asked, "Do you think it was a mistake looking back, because you know that the infrastructure bill that was passed was cleaved apart from what's now being called Build Back Better. And in a sense, it's a bill that's like a White guy employment act, right?"

"There's going to be a lot of working-class men that are going to get employed by that bill, but that's the very cohort that is much more likely to reward Republicans for that. That's who they vote for. Most, you know, working-class White guys vote Republican," she continued. "Do you think it was a mistake to split those bills?"

"No, and I want to challenge the idea that this is a bill that only benefits one part of the population," Buttigieg said.

"I get where you're coming from and what you're saying. But … you look at something like the investment in transit – you know it's … commuters of color who are most likely to depend on that. You look at the jobs we're going to create. And yeah, they have been traditionally White and male, but it doesn't have to stay that way."

In order to put more people to work, people have to want to work.
If you want to work today the jobs are begging for you.
I don't get on the road without seeing help wanted signs.

Some jobs ar paying a bonus for people who sign up to work.
Take a bath, get a haircut, show up early and promise to show up for work and there is no reason you will not be hired.

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....
People have gotten used to the idea that they can do without, live on less, 9-5 jobs are passe... why work hard?

Being hungry is a great motivator to work. Also having your electricity shut off and kicked out of the rental. Great motivators to get off one’s bum and getting a job.
We need to get back to “you don’t work — you don’t eat” principle.

With all the govt programs that help you not work, people see no reason to. You can even steal now without getting in trouble.

Joy Reid: 'Absolute worst' Manchin and Sinema 'don't care' about poor people

She said, "For all the right-wing's hysteria over Joe Biden's handling of the economy, you would never know that it's actually doing pretty great … Inflation has dampened the effects of those good numbers. Republicans and the wealthy, especially the super-rich, … well they like to blame inflation on increased government spending. And yeah, pumping lots of money into the economy at one time can be inflationary."

[clip]

Reid went on to say that Build Back Better would have mulled the harsh effects of inflation for low-income Americans by helping with the costs of childcare, elder care, healthcare, and housing. According to Reid, these provisions are "basic rights that this country should provide and the provisions that are widely popular with the American people.

"You know, the people that Manchin and Sinema clearly don’t care about or think that they answer to," she said.

Joy Reid’s Guest: ‘Joe Rogan Is A Really Dumb Person Who Thinks That He’s Smart’

“Joe Rogan is a really dumb person who thinks that he’s smart, so he has these pseudo-scientific conversations that absolutely erode the brain,” said Touré. “In terms of COVID, here’s what he’s doing: We are in a crowded theater where there is a fire and he’s saying ‘No, guys, there is no fire. Everything is fine.’”

Rogan has faced calls to remove his show from online streaming platform, allegedly for spreading “disinformation” about COVID-19 by interviewing Dr. Peter McCullough and Dr. Robert Malone. Rogan noted that he also interviewed Dr. Peter Hotez, a regular guest on “The ReidOut” and other shows on both MSNBC and CNN.

Rogan has never classified himself as an intellectual, saying, “I’m just a person who sits down and talks to people and has conversations with them. Do I get things wrong? Absolutely. … Whenever I get something wrong. I try to correct it because I’m interested in telling the truth.”

Joy Reid has regularly had her mental prowess called into question. “Joy Reid has been the dumbest person on TV for a long time,” said The Daily Wire’s Candace Owens. ProgressiveSaagar Enjeti called Reid the “dumbest woman on television.” The most popular personality in cable news, Tucker Carlson, has questioned the intellect of who he calls “the race lady,” because she single-mindedly reduces every issue to a reflection of endemic U.S. racism.

Hollywood Puts Trump Supporters ‘First In Line’ For Reality TV Shows: Joy Reid

Something is “happening on your television screens these days that is more curious. Have you noticed the parade of far-Right figures, MAGA liars, Tea Partiers, coup plotters, and extremists appearing on wholesome, family-friendly, reputation-redeeming reality shows?” Reid asked on Thursday’s show. “The most recent example is coup-inciter Rudy Giuliani, reportedly appearing on Fox’s ‘The Masked Singer.’”

Reality shows, which she claimed enhanced participants’ reputations, should seek to “have the most unifying, broadly beloved people on those kinds of shows, but not now it’s like, if you worked for Trump, you, like, first in line.”

The most recent network performance Reid cited occurred nearly two years ago, when Sarah Palin performed “Baby Got Back” on “The Masked Singer” in March 2020. Reid referenced three previous incidents over 16 years:

  • Former Trump White House spokesman Sean Spicer, who is now a Newsmax anchor. was eliminated from “Dancing With The Stars” in November 2019;
  • “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” which TLC canceled in 2011 despite the show attracting 3.2 million viewers a week; and
  • Tucker Carlson’s 2006 appearance on “Dancing With The Stars,” while Carlson hosted “The Situation With Tucker Carlson” on MSNBC.
An MSNBC chryon during the show’s Friday night episode warned these appearances constituted “The MAGA-fication Of Mainstream Media.” Hollywood is almost uniformly liberal in its politics, with Tinsel Town’s Republicans falling well left-of-center on many issues.

Joy Reid rails against 'new Plessy' Supreme Court: 'Fascist white minority rule'

The video clip attached to Reid's tweet showed a segment from her program, "The ReidOut," and included her accusing the current Supreme Court of ignoring precedent set by the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which effectively overturned Plessy v. Ferguson.

"The activists on the current court are showing that precedent doesn't much matter to them. They're declaring open season on the voting rights of Americans of color, escalating the war on the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in a bid, it seems, to become the new Plessy court," she said.

Reid did not go into detail as to what future Supreme Court decisions would lead to the claims she made in her tweet.

MSNBC's Joy Reid claims 'mainly conservative White parents' protesting school boards, parents disagree

During Wednesday’s "The ReidOut," MSNBC host Joy Reid argued that White conservatives were mostly behind the growing protests against school boards.

"But the real fights over education are at the K-12 level where we’ve seen conservative, mainly conservative White parents whipped into a frenzy over mask mandates, lessons on race and gender and sexuality," Reid said.

This contrasted various notable protesters across the country including Indian-American Sira Raj, who helped initiate the original recall effort in San Francisco.

Colorado father Derrick Wilburn, a descendent of Black slaves, also notably protested the teaching of critical race theory in his children’s schools back in August.

Former Wall Street Journal columnist Asra Nomani, a Muslim Indian-American, also frequently calls out efforts by school boards and the Biden administration to smear and belittle parents over education.

MSNBC's Joy Reid slams the NFL for trying to 'sanitize' Blackness

Although Reid and her panel of guests appreciated the "disruptive" behavior, they still insisted that the NFL is strangling forms of "Blackness."

"The NFL has always tried to sanitize Blackness, especially during the Super Bowl, from the halftime performances to players taking a knee, and it especially does not want to dabble in the culture wars now and tick off the conservative fan base," Reid said.

"Which explains why Kendrick Lamar’s line ‘and we hate the popo’ was noticeably scrubbed last night," guest Jason Johnson fired back.

"Don’t think we didn’t notice," Reid added.

Reid also insisted that the NFL was "surprised" by Eminem’s choice to kneel despite the organization stating that it was made "aware" of his stunt and any claim otherwise was "erroneous."

MSNBC's Joy Reid: Republicans want a 'White Christian autocracy'

While claiming that GOP figures, including former President Donald Trump, openly supported Russia over the United States, Reid went as far as to claim that Republicans want a White Christian autocracy to rule without elections.

"I understand that they prefer autocracy. They want a White Christian autocracy in the United States. They believe that White Christians are sort of beleaguered and deserve to rule the United States without elections. Got it. But this is really, at this point, open," she said.

One of the guests, Julia Ioffe, agreed with Reid that Republicans appear to back Russian values.

"There is an ideological affinity there like you said. They see Russia as a White Christian conservative nation where there are only two genders and only one kind of sexuality," Ioffe said. "That is not an accurate picture of Russia, but they think that that is the kind of, you know, the White Christian autocracy we ought to be more like. And then on top of that, you have the kind of team sports nature of the American politics has taken on in recent days. That’s what I think is going on."
