and what does that have anything to do with it?

Are the 'outsiders' also importing outside employees?

Local is local. Franchise money goes elsewhere. I am not even going to supply the statistics. Do a search on buying local versus big box. Or visit amiba.com.

Longhorns can't hold a candle to the wind of the Great Texas Road House.

Interesting. So in your esteemed knuckle-dragging opinion...there really is a discernible difference in food quality between the various cookie-cutter national "we'll serve any 'steak' to anyone stupid enough to pay for it" chain restaurants.

Really. In my 50 years, I've failed to see the difference(s). Please. Help an old fella out here. 'splain.

Where is a local steak house? The only one I know of is Jake and Al's and they've kind of sucked for the last couple of years.

Exactly, hit or miss there. Sucked the last 2 or 3 times there and the sad part is, t'was the service as much as the food that turned us away......What a shame.

IT all depends on how the place was ran. TRH tends to keep a tighter leash on their resturants than LH, so they are more uniform. I was very disappointed by the LH in Waldorf (as just about every other resturant in there too). But a good clean well run LH is just as good as a TRH.

Its just like there are "good" and bad McDonalds, its all in the management.

I don't really know of any. We used to have the Oakwood Lodge...but then we used to have quite a few good restaurants back in the day.

I understand generally why the national chains are reasonably popular;' I just never understand the hysteria that surrounds the opening month(s) of most of them.

They use better ingredients, employ better cooks, have a more state of the art kitchen, and keep the restaurant cleaner. Just to name a few. I could go on and on about why TRH is better than that longhorns.

You must be what.. a regional health inspector or ?..to have all that detailed knowledge about 10s (100s?) of units in two competing restaurant chains. Impressive.

TRH also has an awesome horse shoe shaped bar.

but to answer your question I have been to each of the chains several times in different locations and TRH is always nicer.

If you know what you are doing like I do you can taste the difference in the ingredient quality. Just google the kitchen setups of the two chains and the differences will immediately be obvious.

Really? Can you provide the link? My browser takes me to nothing showing the set up of these kitchens.
Ingredient quality? Back to the horseshoe with you.:eyebrow:

Well yeah..those pics do look like they were taken in kitchens of some kind.

What else can one glean from those pictures? How do you tell which is from which chain?
