Marriage. What's the point?

There was a life insurance policy, but what is left of that now is set aside for the children. I'm not using that to live day to day. The one thing I tell people is that the only regret that I have is we had no video of him. Nothing with his voice, his laugh, nothing but pictures and memories they are so flat.

So sad, and something for us all to think about. :huggy:

I'm sorry, but I believe your answer should simply be: "Not much"


You should never start a sentence with "I'm sorry." It's admitting you were wrong in advance. Since that is the case, why don't you zip it up?

What about each person being responsible for their own well being?

This is important as well, but if you're married you get better rates for health insurance.

Sure, I/he/she can be the beneficiary of the life insurance, get the house etc without being married, but most health plans require a marriage to be added to another's policy.

I wouldn't want to leave my loved one out on the streets because I failed to prepare for what will eventually happen (and at any time)

I guess if both partners are independently wealthy there is no reason to even think about such things.
