I think the sign said Bradford's.Rode past the Mckays on 245 this afternoon, its been painted and looks like people were working on the inside. Anyone heard if something is going in there? Would love to see a Nicks put in.
It looks better than it did. They are reopening it as something independent. I HATE when people paint brick buildings white...
(shrug) I haven't been impressed thus fair when a crappy grocery gets bought out and replaced by another - it still looks dirty and grimey INSIDE.It looks better than it did.
Woodburn's. The new side was nice, the old side, not so much.(shrug) I haven't been impressed thus fair when a crappy grocery gets bought out and replaced by another - it still looks dirty and grimey INSIDE.
Shoppers, Food Lion, you name it. I can't remember the name of the place that was on Solomon's, where the library is. But they never change it ENOUGH on the inside.
That's because the "new side" was never part of the old store. It always freaked me out a bit because you physically went up about half a foot between the old and new sections.Woodburn's. The new side was nice, the old side, not so much.
I never did my regular shopping there. I'd stop if I needed something and I was going by.That's because the "new side" was never part of the old store. It always freaked me out a bit because you physically went up about half a foot between the old and new sections.
I've just seen when, for example, Food Lion gets "taken over" by Weis (which I believe is still part of the same company) and it just looks as gross as it did before - like all they did was stock the shelves. The only one that was ever any different was the Hollywood McKay's and that's because they actually DID totally gut the store.
On the other hand, it really was just a liquor store that sold a little food. I no longer had any inclination to shop there.
Yeah me too - EXCEPT - they were about the only place you could just about always get stuffed ham and from time to time, on that meat island back by the meat counter, there would be bargains - usually pork but sometimes fatty hamburger.I never did my regular shopping there. Only thing I ever stopped in there for was beer, bourbon or cannolis.Yeah me too - EXCEPT - they were about the only place you could just about always get stuffed ham and from time to time, on that meat island back by the meat counter, there would be bargains - usually pork but sometimes fatty hamburger.

I can take it or leave it. It's big in my house because my wife's family is from here. Every March they all come here to go to the Hollywood VFD for their dinner. Lately we make our own, and McKay's has the ingredients.I don't like stuffed ham.
^that...I've had it, made me wonder what the hoopla was about.I don't like stuffed ham.

I understand that it's a St. Mary's thing, but I just don't care for it. That leaves more for everyone else! Same with oysters. I tried one again two weeks ago. Still a hard nope!^that...I've had it, made me wonder what the hoopla was about.
I do too.I HATE when people paint brick buildings white.
I'm with you on the oysters. Back when my kids were growing up, I'd get then from time to time and they naturally had to try them. It's funny, both the kids still love them, but since I gave up beer I would rather not eat them. Now the stuffed ham... If you make a sandwich while it's still warm from cooking, that's a whole different ballgame. It's okay cold, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.I understand that it's a St. Mary's thing, but I just don't care for it. That leaves more for everyone else! Same with oysters.
