Mission BBQ

I cannot in good conscience eat at a chain restaurant when a comparable restaurant owned by a human is 2 miles away, regardless of how many marketing gimmicks they engage in.

Smokey Joe's will still be seeing me.

I also like to support local businesses but I also like to support businesses that help good causes. Mission BBQ supports not only supports the military but local police, and fire fighters.

I ate there last night, overall it wasn't bad. I had the pulled pork which was average, the sausage which was average and the Brisket which was awesome. The fries were very good too.

I went last night and didn't like it at all. The turkey was the best of the 3 meat sampler I had. The brisket was greasy and the pulled pork was plain nasty. I had the baked beans an creamed corn. Not very good IMO.
Smokey Joe's is much better but neither can touch Johnny Boy's on 301.

Went to Mission today for lunch...figured we'd give it a try.
I showed up about 1050 and there were already two guys in line. At 1055 you would have thought they were giving out free BBQ cause folks came out of the woodwork. By the time they opened the doors at 11, there were over 30 in line waiting. By 1105 the ordering line was backed up to the door and another 20+ waiting outside.
We went elsewhere and will try again another time.

Never underestimate the rabble's love for chain restaurant food.

If you were third in line why would you go elsewhere?

I hit the gym during my lunch break and showed up about 11:30. The line was out the door and at least 30 people were waiting. Crazy.

The wife and I went there the other night and the ribs were great although when I ordered the Ten rib combo she goes, "O we can share then". We did, I went up for another five. :)

Like a lot of "new" places, I think things will settle down in a month or two.
Seems that's how it goes with almost every place that opens up.
Though I think Chipolte is still pretty busy at lunch time.

Furlough impact might help quell some of the crowds as well.

I was one of the two in line in front of you. Picked up lunch for 10 people in our shop, only took a couple of minutes. Super fast service, they're almost tripping over each other to serve you. One of the guys behind me was called before he even put his change in his pocket. You should have stayed. When I left the line was outside all the way to the fitness center. Sliced brisket sandwich, baked beans and lemonade was great.

Hey Vrai, are you going to try them before finalizing their condemnation? They are not a chain, as we've discussed, unless you consider 3 stores a chain, which obviously you do.

I highly suggest giving them a try before you bad mouth them. If you have already and you still think they're a crappy chain bbq joint, then so be it.

I might. I love BBQ, although I usually make it myself, so it's entirely possible I'll grab a carryout order one night for dinner or something. It's also possible someone will say hey, let's go to lunch, and Mission will be the place they suggest.

I haven't set foot in the Cracker Barrel, only been to TX Roadhouse once, the other new steak chain once, etc. I frequent the Duck, Reluctant Navigator, Vera's, and other places that are locally owned and operated. I'm not a big fan of formula restaurants, they just don't seem personal to me.
