It doesn't have that kind of range. Now Hawaii and parts of Alaska might have to worry but LA is pretty much safe.
Well, that's a shame because you know the media elite isn't going to care if Alaska takes a hit. At least if they wiped out LA, the rest of us would get something out of the deal. Too bad they can't reach New Orleans.

Are you kidding? All that wildlife up there to save! If they won't let us drill, they better damn well go protect it from missles with thier bodies if they have to.

Of course if it did get hit, then there would be nothing to protect and we could drill without all the whining.

I just always find it humorous when I see the name of their short-range missile...Nodong! :killingme
:lmao: :yeahthat:

The first post sounds explicit. "Did Pyongyang put fuel in his Taepodong-2 missile?" :killingme

I keep reading/hearing different opinions on this. My morning paper is reporting it could hit the east coast...

I've also been informed we have never successfully shot a missle down..

So confused..

Your misinformed.

SCUD missles are short or medium raged missles and we shot up all kinds of those.

Unless it hits the pristine wildlife preserve where all the oil is.

Maybe everybody in the media will have simultaneous apoplexy if that happens.

aHA! This is all coming together now. Bush paid them to lob a missile at northeastern Alaska and wipe out the caribou.

"Damn North Koreans . Oh well, might as well drill now, eh?"

I think Hawaii is out of range too. The article I saw just mentioned capability to reach Alaska.
Depends on who you talk to and what has been done to the NK missile, old estimates I have seen on the Taepodong-2 showed ranges of 3800 to 5900 KM, and I think that was just for two-staged missiles and there is talk of a three-stage variant.

U.S. officials have said the missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2, has a firing range of 9,300 miles and could reach as far as the U.S. West Coast.

What US officials? For that range it would take more than a third stage but a complete retrofit to double the fuel payload. I think someone is playing on the people's fears. Or screwed up thinking that 5900KM is the same as 5900 miles, but still I haven't seen or heard anything about a 9300 mile missile from Korea.

That old "Mapquest" is something isn't it? :lmao:
Little more to it then that..

Google Earth to get the Lat Long for each location.. then a distance converter to take the Lat Long for each and calculate a distance.

So Bob, you think they are going to launch it from downtown Pyongyang? What about if they had the launch site near Chongjin? Now the distance to Shemya is 2667.5 miles and within your posted range. There is even more NK to the northeast of Chongjin too so they can go further east depending where the launch site is.

True.. I chose Pyongyang because it is the most heavily defended part of N Korea.. I can't imagine them putting their most importanat weapon out in the middle of nowhere, where it can be attacked with little effort. or fear of loss to attacking aircraft.

I did see online in one of the articles the town name where the launch facility is located.. but I didn't cross reference it back to figuring out the distances.
