My big ladder was stolen urgh

Saturday we had the big ladder out against the front of the house to clean the leaves out of the gutters and did not finish. We left the ladder there overnight to finish the next day. We left for a couple hours Sunday to pick up a load of hay and when we came back the ladder was gone. There is no shoulder on my road so they either stopped in the road or pulled into my driveway to get the ladder? Thieves are getting really bold anymore. Now I feel like my house is being watched for more things that can be stolen? How safe are locked sheds when they have numbers on the lock that anyone can buy a key for?

You can borrow one of mine if you are near St. Leonard area. Might be a good time to buy a ring camera to catch thieves in the act and send video to police to track them down.

Locks are just to keep honest people honest. A thief can get in if they want to. Just don't tempt them and do enough to slow them down a little and they will find easier targets.

In your area I suspect the thieves are lazy turds, they are the easiest to thwart.

I have the Blink cameras around my house, doorbell, too, along with motion activated lights.
Most of what I see in the video captures is the local wildlife and cats wandering by...
Doorbell cam is useful for getting an alert when a package is dropped off on the front stoop.

Why would someone buy a key for a lock when it might take 10 seconds with a crowbar to remove in most cases? Thieves don't care about property damage.

My house faces the road although I have a dense row of evergreens that should stop the road traffic from triggering a motion sensor. How do you stop people from stealing your camera?

They are mounted above the doorways, and on the railing of our raised deck.
The lights coming on is also a deterrent.

I have a couple of Tracfone smartphones set up as monitoring stations, and have audible alarms to alert me of camera hits.

Bolt cutters are faster and cleaner.
We have a local thief that goes in and out of jail/prison that we know is out when things start turning up missing (atv's & mowers usually), but he doesn't drive to my knowledge so this probably wasn't him unless he had a buddy driving that wanted a ladder? Anyway I think we need to add a 2nd lock to the sheds to be on the safe side. It gets so inconvenient when you have to take so many steps to prevent theft.

Mine records to my phone.

Just sneakin' around....
More locks isn't an answer, it will just take 15 seconds instead of 10.

Deterrents. Get fake cameras with working red LEDs and put them up in obvious places. Post signs indicating you have video surveillance ( some good ones at Lowes and Harbor Freight). Anything to make them 2nd guess their actions.

An outside dog with a temper.

I have a camera out back that I was testing and it sends images to my phone but I found myself spending hours a week deleting images that were just me doing critter chores. I guess I need one that has an easy way to remove unwanted images in groups, not 1 by 1. I need to do research on a decent camera for out front. I have plenty of NO TRESPASSING signs but those are only for people who care what I post.

The feisty dog was in an enclosed area on the side (probably barking her head off) so I need a dog fence out front so the dog can patrol. Of course then my package deliveries will be closer to the road outside the fence and the passers-by will grab those?

Or turn it off when you are outside. I have Arlo. My flag sometimes sets it off. I have also captured some cute hummingbird fights.

I'd be afraid one of the low-life's would poison the dog
