$80 a month? Or $80 total for the 6 month or year? Do you reimburse him for your insurance costs or do those costs fall solely on him? I'm asking because that would potentially play a role in his decision. I've never driven a convertible but I was always told that increases your insurance costs significantly due to the lack of structure around the driver. Would you be willing to compromise if he would get the other Eclipse that's not a convertible?

80 a month. I reimburse him. The dealer has two of them one is a convertible and has less miles then the other one. That is why i picked the convertible. Both are around the same price. Im thinking of getting my owm policy because he has tickets and i dont.

ok, here's another hard question: why then did you get on his policy, and how?

You dont have to married to be on auto insurance. Health insurance you do.

Yeah, you don't but you pay more. For us, before we were married, it was cheaper to maintain separate policies since they both covered any licensed driver operating our vehicle. Once we got married it became more beneficial for us to combine policies. But there are a lot of factors that go into that sort of thing.

The truck only had liability. I dont think it was like yours. Where it covered any licensed driver.

Paying for your own insurance costs helps support your asking for the car. If it looks like he won't help you get the car then perhaps you could consider compromising on maybe the Eclipse with a few more miles, especially if it's cheaper. If it's a money thing, though, consider getting the other car and being able to drive around a paid off car while continuing to save for an upgrade maybe when you graduate college (a little gift to yourself). You'd have a trade in plus a down payment, if you're interested in financing.

Do either of the Eclipses come with any kind of warranty? What about the one he wants?

Yep! I still have some faith in her, though. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and hoping she'll cross over to our perceived dark side - the side of honesty, reason, and responsibility. It's really much easier and less stressful than all that conniving and manipulation.

I want to use it as a down payment for a car that has 25k on it that costs 6,000$

Anybody else seeing a problem with an Eclipse that ONLY has 25k in mileage, but all they are asking for is $6,000? 25,000 miles on a car means it is pretty much brand new I don't care what year it is... sounds like the odometer has rolled over or it's a flood car, etc...:eyebrow:

BTW, I've been looking for a "new" used car for my daughter and have never seen a 2006 with only 25k in mileage and never a car with only 25k in mileage for only $6,000.

You're not going to get a vehicle with only 25k miles on it for $6000.

Jess, no offense and I'm sure you're just cute as a button, but I'd let the boyfriend do the car shopping if I were you.

My son's grandfather flat out gave him a truck. 2001 Ranger, excellent condition, and had only 56k miles on it. The grandfather didn't drive it that much, he lives in a beach town and walks almost everywhere. My son turns around and sells it for $4,500. I think he could have gotten a little more for it.

A 29 year old man who likes it "his way or the highway" and is in control of the money, the purchasing decisions, and probably every other aspect of his homestead has hooked up with a 23 year old not even done with school yet.... yeah, odds are she is supposed to sit there and look pretty.

So than you agree a sporty car that is 5 years younger and 1/5 the mileage going for $6k sounds fishy...:yay:
