Try the community college in Charles county. I took the safety course in June at Tidewater college in Chesapeake, VA it was 90 degrees on Sat. and rained all day Sunday while being tested. Harley sells little metal holders to put the base sticker on your bike so you don't have to put them on your forks, it's about $12.00. GEICO Motorcycle has great insurance rates also, give them a try.

NAS Oceana and NS Norfolk always have classes going on as well. It's a 4 hour drive, but it could be worth the trip too :yay:

Hubby's leaving town on Sat. I'll be cruising the neighborhood with no supervision. My advice is that nobody drive in the North Town Creek area.

OK, answer that I got, and don't know if it's true.. IF you take the MSF course out of state then you will have to take the MD riding test to get your license. If you take the MSF course in MD(and pass) then your don't.

Thanks. I am planning on taking the course in the spring at CSM IF I can get in. I had heard that the local Harley place was going to offer the course when they moved to their new location. I called them and the girl didn't know anything about it. She said they might, in the summer, if they locate space to do it in.
Maryland MVA offers the Basic Riders Course. You register through CSM and the hold the course at the MVA in Waldorf. Great course. You get your certificate when you pass. The certificate gets you your license. It's a three day course.

A lot more then just the MVA offer it.. we were trying to find different options for our new bike owners.. Harley Dealerships were one.. CSM.. and then a short list of other options in the state.. I brought up going out of state to get it done, then realized the above.. Ylexot found all the local courses to be filled until next spring.. CSM and PAX courses.

Hubby is leaving town tomorrow. Got a guy coming over to try to teach me how to ride. I bet it is easier to learn from someone you aren't married to. Hubby thinks I am a tard. I am going to work on the back brake thing. I've been ignoring the fact that I have one and only using the front brake. I need to not learn bad habits from the start. I've also asked the boy to work with me for the next week.

Virginia is the way, if you pass the motorcycle safety course you will get a waiver card to take to DMV so you don't have to take the riding test, just the written test.

It's the same way here in MD

But if you take the Basic Rider Course through the MVA you get the written test and the riders test. Three day course and when your done you take the certificate to the MVA and they give you your license. It also suffices for the NAS safety course to get you a sticker for your motorcycle.
