I've found my V Strom (listed as a standard) to be a good compromise between the lean back riding position of a cruiser and the knees in you arm pit position of a sport bike.
You don't have to lean any type of bike more than another. Sport bikes have the ability to lean more than cruisers because of the foot peg placement (and suspension, tires etc).

Do you currently have a MC endorsement on your license? If not sign up for the class at CSM before you buy.
I have signed up. I go may 9th, 12th and 13th. Also thanks for the info on Colman Powersports. Maybe the new Atlantic Cycle and Power in Pr. Fred. will open around that time.

Yes, but they're not overweight, underpowered, over priced and don't include a cult like following based on marketing hype.

Colman Powersports in Falls Church is having their annual used bike auction this weekend.

Obviously you've never driven a Harley nor understand the history behind them, therefore, not appreciating what they stand for. Underpowered to say the least - my Vrod has about 125 horses inside of her with 1130cc. And, if one see's one driving a honda/yamaha cruiser so to speak they're not even noticed! If I recall correctly, Harley enthusiasts consists of doctor's, lawyers, etc....

If one buys one for the sake of being "Noticed", then you've just proved Aps's point. :coffee:

back to the subject at hand. Definitely get your license, go test drive as many bikes as possible. buy used.

Definitely look at the V-strom, SV 650, Yamaha FJ's and other "naked" sport bikes and sport tourers. The naked ones generally have a more upright seating position.

Hopefully your comment about not wanting to lean too much has been satisfactorily handled via PM's alread. If not, I suggest you look into buying a trike, or the new Can-Am Spyder.

I won't even bother getting into the Harley vs the rest of the world argument. I know too many Harley owners that went to Harley after owning something else first. But I understand that Harleys are not for everybody. And I like it that way. They aren't for every riding style either. That's why I own two.
