And decorative kale. That’s why the parsley is on the plate.
It may not be gourmet, but that's what we had when I was a kid and it brings a sense of nostalgia.Every chain has blasted prices through the roof! Even the chain fast food places. Hell, a burrito supreme at Taco Bell used to cost $2.99 not too long ago. Now, it is just under $10 each. Same with McD. Burger entree is almost $10.
Doesn't stop the masses from lining up to shove them into their faces though and THAT is the only thing that will force a change. Stop eating there. But, when it comes to deciding between not paying the overage and doing some home cooking OR being lazy and coughing up the increased prices.. people will chose lazy 99% of the time (and then complain about prices)
If I stop at Harris Teeter and get the salad bar it's still $15.00That's an understatement$15 for a tuna salad sandwich, $19 for a chef's salad. Beachfront places here in high tourist season don't charge that.

There must be a LOT of people with "limited choices" or special circumstance because, those lines are long every... single... day.I'm not convinced that any of those options are the primary reasons - for me, I generally don't like fast food - but when I am 3-4 hours from home, or traveling it's the cheapest option. When I have to choose between my son missing a swim meet at 6 or serving him dinner at 4 (because special needs, he eats very slow) - I opt for fast food on the way there. I pay the price for it - because my choices are limited.
I don't like it - but I don't have a lotta choice. I like cooking at home, but it's not always the best option.
Nostalgia would be feeding your family McDs for $15-20. NOT for $45-50.It may not be gourmet, but that's what we had when I was a kid and it brings a sense of nostalgia.
Yes. went there for lunch last week. I had the haddock basket, the fish was fresh and delicious. Hubby got the catfish, he said it was damn good.Kevin's was SO good when it was in town,,,,, something changed when it moved down to the Willows building. I hope Helen's can make a go of it there although no one recently has been successful.
Has anyone been to the new seafood place in the old Slice House which was the original Kevins ... ?
The salad bar at HT is the best. Pricey, but it is always fresh and lots of options. IMO the best in this area.If I stop at Harris Teeter and get the salad bar it's still $15.00
I went for lunch with 2 other people 2 weeks ago. None of us were very impressed. We've all had better for less or the same$$. It wasn't awful, just not good enough for me to be in a rush to go back. We had fried oysters, fried haddock, and crab soup among us. The only thing that we really thought was decent was the haddock.Kevin's was SO good when it was in town,,,,, something changed when it moved down to the Willows building. The Willows is the one I remember. What a stupid place for a restaurant. Who wouldn't prefer to be up the hill in Leonardtown?
Me neither. What was it before the Willows? It's been so long I can't remember.
Kevin had a loyal clientele. After fighting mightily during Covid tp keep the place open, I think he got tired and said f'it.
Thats what I had and thought it was great. Husband said the catfish was good, but, I dont care for catfish so cant confirm that.I went for lunch with 2 other people 2 weeks ago. Guaranteed they are up and rolling before Scramblers ever gets going. I'm not even sure they're doing anymore to that place.One-Eyed Jacks is due to be opening next month (I believe) in Hollywood. Corner of 235/Clarkes Landing Road. Brand new building.
I haven't been by Scrambles in quite awhile so I can't speak to that. Now, the place on the opposite corner from One Eye'd, it still in a bad place.Guaranteed they are up and rolling before Scramblers ever gets going. I'm not even sure they're doing anymore to that place.
I don't like catfish either, but husband does!Thats what I had and thought it was great. Husband said the catfish was good, but, I dont care for catfish so cant confirm that.
I'm seeing a pattern here. What are you surfing, LR?
