You dont but its a hell of alot easier....

Amen brother! I've had wires hanging out of a hood for a week while installing a non- plugnplay DFI. On the other hand, I saved $600 on a plug and play harness and crap ass "start up" maps!

It's all in your preference (and wallet) :lmao:

The wallet is the main one... its getting crazy that people are now doing tuning with these things and sending maps out... I know there is a guy named Big Al that does dynoflashing for evo's.. Floyd and I know a few of them.... they have theres tuned.. but now someone figured out how to tune them, and you can just plug into the odbII port and boom laptop and software and can do 2-step etc...

It isnt that easy with mopar :( blah....

I agree 600 bucks cheaper, but at the same time, AEM is what your paying for, the name not always the product, even though AEM standalone has always been one hell of an upgrade

Much of this is still like Chineese to me.. haha.. I am slowly pickin up on some of this stuff.. not the most mechanically enclined person in the world, but it pays to learn this stuff.. especially since my hobby revolves around cars.

Yeah the tools available today for OEM engine management are outstanding!

I got into this by burning my own chips for turbo buicks, then burning chips for a friends Camaro. Burning chips was a gateway drug to piggy back systems then later full on standalone engine management systems! I finally broke the habit last year but I've been in withdrawls ever since! :lmao:

Don't worry about it, knowledge comes with exposure and tinkering. You'll pick it up as you need it and as your wallet (or wife) :lmao: allows!

With all the mods you guys have on your cars, you should bring them out to the track(closed course) for a High Performance Driving Event (HPDE).

If the wallet permits.. I'm game.. last time at MIR I had terrible tires and ran like ish.. hopefully this time it will be different. I wont mention what I ran either.. it was bad.. I could have skipped faster than what I did.. ROFL.

Id like that!
Im sick of seeing cars go in a straight line.
Someone told me once that a slightly modded neon can out handle high end cars with ease.

I stay away from the track... Numerous reasons....
One reason is, I know a fellow dealership that didnt warranty something due to him running at the track, and its a part on the car wasnt due to the wear and tear....

Yeah, Summit Point main is a track that I am very familiar with. VIR is another. I run HPDE's with NASA mainly, but have been invited to and ran with the Mazda club, Porsche club, and BSR. I am also an enduro kart racer, racing the same tracks.
