New Vision Trash Service?

I put my new vision trash can in my waste management bucket today to see if they would trash it. I hope that stupid new vision can is gone when I get home today. If not its getting thrown into the woods tonight.

There is another option for the can, scrape new vision of the can and you can clean it up and use it for a big cooler during parties etc. No um not a redneck LOL, just a thought, or even the kids can play with it and drag each other around in it just like pulling the old red wagon back in the day, paint it red. Also its very hot out, it can be used to stand in some nice cold water, just brain storming.

Those are all good ideas but the new vision trash can is taking up valuable space in my yard that I can't afford to loose.

I just received a letter from New Vision/SDI this week after sending them back my last bill with a letter to cancel my service and to please come and pick up my trash can and recycling bins (of course, I still have it all and haven't heard from them) saying that SDI out of West Point, VA will be the new service company. New Vision apparently merged with them. Guess I will have to send another letter (or copy of the first) to these folks as well now.

SDI is their own company with a good reputation. I spoke AT LENGTH with a lady there this morning and they are OVERWHELMED with the calls and complaints about New Vision.

They too have been duped by New Vision as New Vision did nit tell them they had collected all of the payments they have for the 3rd quarter and New Vision lied to them about how many accounts they would get as they failed to tell them about all the cancellations.

SDI is so overwhelmed, they don't know if the "deal" they made with New Vision will stand, THAT is how much they were lied to.

That being said, they are investigating and will call me back about when / if they are going to pick up my trash...as they would be doin it for free for the next month anyway as I am paid too.

So...you might want to hold off on paying because you might get another letter saying...we were lied to and we are outta here!

Very interesting stuff here. I haven't contacted SDI yet because unlike some others on this forum my bill was actually received right on time for July/August/September. Once again, I guess we've been lucky in this whole New Vision experience.

From what I've been able to piece together (nothing official here, just trying to connect the dots) New Vision would probably end up going out of business without this merger/takeover by SDI. If what you've posted about the merger/takeover possibly falling through my guess would be that New Vision would have little to no choice but to shut down. Those who have already paid might be out of luck in that case without some type of legal action. The best option for all the customers involved might be for SDI to take over and go ahead and "eat" the losses for the first quarter they're running the combined company. This option could be really rough for SDI, however.

I guess SDI could back out of the merger/takeover based on the record-keeping and billing mess they would inherit, let New Vision go out of business, and then turn around and begin offering SDI services in the areas New Vision just left (don't know if they'd need New Vision's trucks & other assets to do that though).

By the way, the New Vision truck just rolled through my neighborhood and picked up my trash as I was writing this reply.

It's Not SDI's Fault

I just received a letter from New Vision/SDI this week after sending them back my last bill with a letter to cancel my service and to please come and pick up my trash can and recycling bins (of course, I still have it all and haven't heard from them) saying that SDI out of West Point, VA will be the new service company. Your story certainly seems typical of what's being posted here. I hope SDI can quickly resolve your situation to your satisfaction.

For everyone who's dealing with their New Vision frustrations, unfortunately it seems like SDI is simply caught in the middle of a bad situation. Maybe it's just my "rose colored glasses" but I'm sure they agreed to the merger with New Vision based on the idea of expanding and possibly saving at least some of the jobs of New Vision's employees. Of course, they probably also hoped to make money in the process. There's nothing wrong with what SDI has done. They were obviously handed poor customer and billing records. They can only work with what they were given.

It's really too bad some people are choosing to "beat up" on SDI employees both verbally and in writing. More than likely the people you're talking to weren't ever associated with New Vision prior to the merger. The people at SDI didn't cause the problems at New Vision nor were they in charge at New Vision when the problems happened. SDI is a completely different company from New Vision and my research seems to indicate that SDI has had a good reputation for many years.

If you've already canceled your New Vision service and/or you're waiting for your toter to be picked up it would be the human thing to do to politely tell them that by phone or by returning the latest bill with a nice note telling them that you had already canceled your service and/or need your toter picked up. I know there are many people frustrated with New Vision but you're venting to the wrong people.

Please try to be patient with SDI as they try to sort out this situation. It really reflects poorly on Southern Maryland when people are rude to employees of a company that's caught in the middle. Here's an example of how confused the situation still is: I just found out one of my neighbors didn't know New Vision had gone to once a week pickups several months ago AND didn't know what day they were picking up in our neighborhood. They thought New Vision had just been missing their pickup dates. I told them about the change and they seem to be OK with it except for thinking that prices probably should have gone down at least a little bit since there are now fewer pickups per quarter (I don't disagree).

They definatly deserve it. If they are trying to bill me for a service that I have canceled in writing several times. I feel they deserve everything they get.

I don't care that New Vision caused the problem. When you buy another business you are also buying and taking the responsibility for all of the problems they caused.

Have SDI's Personnel Been Rude?

Do what you feel you have to do but remember you're the one who looks bad to a total stranger, probably a secretary or the unlucky guy who just happened to answer the phone. I haven't heard anyone complain that the SDI personnel have been rude in their conversations with customers, actually all posts here seem to indicate just the opposite which says a lot about the people working for SDI.

Yes, SDI merged with New Vision so they have to take the good, the bad and the ugly because that's just part of doing business. Venting frustration to anyone with the new company who will listen is certainly understandable, however, it doesn't make it any less rude.

It's really too bad that New Vision's old management isn't being forced to deal with this situation. They're the ones who "deserve" to be yelled at because they created the problem which could have been easily corrected through simple communication and record-keeping. Through their lack of communication and poor record-keeping they have essentially lied to both their customers and their merger partner, SDI.

Here's some "food for thought," it's very easy to be the "sender" in these situations but much more difficult to be the "receiver." In my experience many people don't remember that when they're the person getting yelled at for another person's mistake.

I wrote cancel all over the last bill SDI sent me last week I even included a couple pictures from one of my porno mags in the envelope. If I get another bill or invoice from them after this there is going to be hell to pay.

I want nothing to do with this company. Whoever owns it now I don't care and will not be giving them another chance. WM matched the price I was paying. I now get twice weekly pickup from WM and pay the old New vision price.

They still haven't picked up my trash can. Everyday they tell me they are. They even said they came and it wasn't outside. BS. The lady on the phone said that i don't need to be rude on the phone and i told her you guys don't have to be lazy f***s!

OK, here's something to consider, when I initially changed to New Vision I called Waste Management to cancel. They said their toter would be picked up in about two days. It actually took about two weeks. I knew I was on their list to be picked up so I didn't freak out or call daily to complain. The toter was eventually picked up. It sounds to me like SDI is now overwhelmed with all the old New Vision problems and possibly regretting or considering backing out of their merger. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the long-run.

Waiting since April to pick can.

Yea, that's a good bit excessive and with that long a wait it sounds like you've been more than patient. Have you contacted SDI (SDI - Your Waste Management Solution for Virginia) about picking up the toter? If so, keep us posted on how long it takes them to pick it up because it will be a good initial test of how committed SDI is to providing service to the Southern Maryland area.

You may just want to ask SDI if they even want the toter back since it originally belonged to New Vision. If they don't want it back you could give it away, throw it away, sell it, or clean it up and repurpose it.

Believe it or not, someone had a thread on one of the forums in the area (don't remember which one) who was looking to acquire unwanted toters just like the ones New Vision used.

Talked to them everday this week. I have no faith in them at all. They should not make promises they can't keep.

Received a card in the mail with new prices for WM 3 different prices and all once a week pick up with 96 gal can. 27.00 for Quarterly, 25.50 6 months and 23.50 12 months. I bet this was only sent to the ones who had quit them when New Vision showed up. So now they are basically matching the competitions price for the once a week pick folks. My trash is still being picked up by New Visions replacement people (SDI) I guess, I am never home to see who it is. I have been one of the lucky ones when I switched, trash picked up on time for 6 months now.

Same here ...

Waiting since April to pick can.

Still waiting. We started taking our trash to the dump ourselves when we were waiting for them to deliver the can... They brought it weeks after we told them we wanted to cancel our services, cause we were tired of waiting.
Now we continue taking the trash ourselves and don't pay for any service. And continue waiting for someone to come and take that can from our property.
I'll contact the new company today and see if something happens.

suggestion

We were solicited by a few trash companies with prices much lower than WM. So I called WM and told of them of the offers that we were getting. They matched the low price, and now we get the good service and price.

Just throw the trash can in the woods. That's what I did.
