I Got My 'puter I Got My 'puter :-D

.....the next thing I want.....a laptop].....

It was like Christmas last night. Dad was able to pick up my new 'puter. :yay:
I'll post the specifics later for anybody that they might remotely matter to.
Yeah, that sentence makes sense. Does too.....

I was up til o'dark thirty this morning fooling with it. It's got all the latest bells and whistles I need......fingerprint and facial recognition; ALL that stuff; WINDOWS7 OS; I think that's what it is anyway.

Now, I just need a fairly long cable; story of MY life :snort:; an HDMI cable; so I can connect it to my new TV.

Found out that it cost just a little more than what I gave Dad to pick it up though; might have been sales tax that we didn't figure into the sale price properly, idk; so, I owe a couple folks a couple bucks.

Well, you can get cheap HDMI cables online. Locally...not so much. If you're willing to drive, I know Harbor Freight carries them and there's a store in Fredericksburg, VA. Of course, after you figure in gas/tolls, it is probably cheaper to get one locally.

And yes, you have Windows 7. Unless you got a Mac or a Linux machine, that's what you got.

I take it back...for cheap HDMI cables locally, try Ross, Marshalls, and Big Lots.

Two questions.....
What lengths are they available in? And.....are they like USB/firewire cables; or is there just one version of HDMI? That make sense?
Okay.....THREE questsions.....

Typical lengths are 3', 6', and 9'. There's only one version of HDMI cable. And don't get suckered into thinking a higher quality cable is worth a higher price. The signals are digital...the cable works or it doesn't.

I am so very blessed
But you don't have to read my posts either, ya know.....:boxing:
You're a man, right? Because you have got to be the most needy man I have ever heard of, and should be embarassed. And if you're a chick, then you are still too needy for your own good, and makes all other women look bad.

But, I'm not embarassed. Not here.

Again, I refer you to my previous reply. :boxing:

This is a Computer, Tech forum.
That said, I figured I would ask a tech question. <:-/

Typical lengths are 3', 6', and 9'. There's only one version of HDMI cable.

Type A Nineteen pins, with bandwidth to support all SDTV, EDTV and HDTV modes. The plug (male) connector outside dimensions are 13.9 mm × 4.45 mm and the receptacle (female) connector inside dimensions are 14 mm × 4.55 mm. Type A is electrically compatible with single-link DVI-D.

Type B This connector (21.2 mm × 4.45 mm) has 29 pins and can carry double the video bandwidth of type A, for use with very high-resolution future displays such as WQUXGA (3,840×2,400). Type B is electrically compatible with dual-link DVI-D, but has not yet been used in any products.

Type C A Mini connector defined in the HDMI 1.3 specification, it is intended for portable devices. It is smaller than the type A plug connector (10.42 mm × 2.42 mm) but has the same 19-pin configuration. The differences are that all positive signals of the differential pairs are swapped with their corresponding shield, the DDC/CEC Ground is assigned to pin 13 instead of pin 17, the CEC is assigned to pin 14 instead of pin 13, and the reserved pin is 17 instead of pin 14. The type C Mini connector can be connected to a type A connector using a type A-to-type C cable.

Type D A Micro connector defined in the HDMI 1.4 specification keeps the standard 19 pins of types A and C but shrinks the connector size to something resembling a micro-USB connector. The type D connector is 2.8 mm × 6.4 mm, whereas the type C connector is 2.42 mm × 10.42 mm.

Type E Automotive Connection System defined in HDMI 1.4 specification.

Three reactions:

1. Good for you! Daddy does your work for you?

2. This is a case of more dollars than sense

3. Take the time and trouble to learn about things and how they work before owning them

1. Bite me.

2. How do you figure?

3. I know enough to be dangerous.
3a. It's no trouble. I know what I need to know.
