Was it a race thing when the lady was struck last year on 235 across from Colony Plaza? I don't think so, well then again it was a hit-and-run. If you wander in front of a moving vehicle unexpectedly, you are going to get hit. While I have no engineering background, I believe a situation like this deals with the basic laws of physics. You have a 2000 pound vehicle being propelled forward at, oh lets say 40 miles per hour, and a pedestrian unexpectedly turns in its path, oh, lets say 50 feet in front of it. It is my uneducated guess that the driver of the vehicle will not have time to react, particularly at night, and bring the vehicle to a complete stop within those 50 feet. In the case of the poor gentleman that was killed, I don’t think the vehicle could have come to a stop, given the speed, time of day, reaction time, stopping distance, whether the pedestrian was black, white or glowing neon green.
Again, sorry for your loss and it is unfortunate that the ACCIDENT happened.
