Pet Value In Leonardtown

Everybody has bills to pay. If we only shopped at and worked at locally owned establishments....well, let's just say my taxes would be a lot higher so those people could put a roof over their heads and food on their tables.

JC, I'm so tired of the local small business owner whinery.

I gleaned no new information from this thread, except FF knew about the competition before anyone else. Oh, and that she knew who I was when I came in her store. I found that interesting, because I have no freakin' idea who she is, or how/why she would know who I am.

I know who you are because your daughter (and your husband) have shopped in my stores. You daughter took a pet 1st aid class in my old store several years ago. She also is the person that built my avatar. I also know what you drive because you have made references to your car in posts.

Regardless of if I knew who you were from the forums, I am usually pretty friendly and think your daughter is a very nice young lady. In fact, I sent you a pm a few years ago complimenting you on how nice she was.

Well, lemme' just throw some unknown information out there for you. I'm honestly glad I don't know you.

That's why I make it a point not to whine and bitch about a competitor. I would rather remain friends with them. You never know when you may need their services or even just borrow something that you may need in a pinch. I share tips and and am more than willing to help any of my competitors out.

I have been to PPP in Solomon's - never the one in Callaway - while the store is nice, i will say it is not the cleanest or most reasonably priced. And I have had an encounter or two with FF outside of PPP and I will say she is not the most pleasant person. And how should I say this......hmmmm....once she realized who I was related to on the second encounter, she changed her tune a bit. Did not sit well with me. If you are a business owner in this community you should be at a minimum friendly with the community (particularly when you are working a community event), if you want that same community to support your mom and pop business. Or else what happens is they go somewhere else....Petco, PetValu, Wal-Mart, etc and you have noone to blame but yourself.

Just strictly expressing my opinion and personal experience.

Let the bashing begin.........

I have no idea who you are or what you are talking about. I have no idea who you *are related* to.

But, as with everything else, every one is entitled to their opinions.

And everyone can choose to spend their money where they please.

What kind of work do you do?

Contrary to popular belief, there are jobs out there. You can't possibly compare someone making minimum wage to someone that puts money into a franchise and loses their ass. Do you know how much franchises cost?

If they don't want to pay for the franchise they should start an original business, like some of the rest of us did. It's usually cheaper than buying a franchise anyway.

I agree. But some people just aren't "original" enough and they need the proper tools that a franchise can offer.

It was the "yabbut" afterward.

You are correct that FF could have been kinder and gentler to her competitor who is scamming free advertising on my website. I personally have no problem with her less than dulcet tones.

Wow. Glad to know that a customer cant post about a good experience without being hated on and basically be told they are unpatriotic for doing so. My apologies. And no. I'm not the competitor scamming free advertising on a website. I'm just a southern maryland resident who owns working dogs and loves a good store being close that has decent prices.

That's their problem. You can't expect a small business owner - a real one - to be thrilled when some no-nothing comes along with their big brother behind them to wipe them out. We'll note that FF didn't seem to have a problem with originality or proper tools when she started her business. Nor did we. And I note that you're not a franchise owner, either.

Get over yourself. We've seen way too many posters who are genuinely recommending a business they love, and way too many owners and workers posing as a "customer" to promote their business. We know the difference.

Well, I think we should just remove all of the box stores and franchises. Then we'll have no where for anyone to work, and we'll have to make do until someone gets creative enough to sell us what we need.

I see your point, but I am not going to sit on a pedestal just because I have the knowledge and tools to start a non-franchise biz. These people are entrepreneurs and local folks that take a leap just like you and I. When they fail, they don't have "big brother" helping them out. They just flat out fail.

Hahaha its cool. Love the hate that simple posts can make people scrounge up. Look up my history: not a store owner or advertiser.
