Pet Value In Leonardtown

FF is a very nice lady and her stores have a awsome selection of pet supplies. I would reccomend giving them a try. :yay:

some people are just very hard to please and no matter what you do it wouldn't make a difference.

:yeahthat:
I don't recall any other pet store posting here about dog food recalls, which says a lot about their care about their customers and fur family members. I have found Peppers staff to be personable & helpfull, they also have a great knowledge about the products they sell. If they don't carry a specific product they will special order it for you.
I myself really appreciate a helpful sales staff.

I also like the Petvalu store in Leonardtown. The number one reason is, I live in Leonardtown and its very convenient to my home. I've never been in Peppers because I dont go to Solomons very often and the same with Callaway. I drive to La Plata Mon - Fri. and dont feel like doing alot of traveling on the weekends for groceries and pet supplies. I've heard wonderful things about Pepper's and hope to one day stop in at one of the stores. That being said, I dont think the NRIT meant to put a negative spin on Pepper's, I believe they were just expressing an opinion, which, if I'm not mistaken, is still allowed in this country.

I have been to PPP in Solomon's - never the one in Callaway - while the store is nice, i will say it is not the cleanest or most reasonably priced. And I have had an encounter or two with FF outside of PPP and I will say she is not the most pleasant person. And how should I say this......hmmmm....once she realized who I was related to on the second encounter, she changed her tune a bit. Did not sit well with me. If you are a business owner in this community you should be at a minimum friendly with the community (particularly when you are working a community event), if you want that same community to support your mom and pop business. Or else what happens is they go somewhere else....Petco, PetValu, Wal-Mart, etc and you have noone to blame but yourself.

Just strictly expressing my opinion and personal experience.

Let the bashing begin.........

No offence, FF, really, but it's REALLY unprofessional to talk about your competitors and customers in a negative way, specially in a public forum. If I was reading this and never been to your store I'd be thinking you are kind of whiney and afraid of competition, and I'd be hesitant to visit your business. I mean this in the nicest possible way, think about what you are writing and how it makes you and your business look.

Couldn't agree with you more!!!!! It also makes her seem not very confident in her "mom and pop" business.

Well, isn't that interesting.

You won't get any bashing from me.

I disagree. It's like political mudslinging: how are you supposed to know the flipside unless their competitor tells you? They are surely not going to mention any negatives, and I like to have something other than the sales pitch rah rah to base my decisions on.

That said, I have never had a bad experience at PPP; the sales people have always been very kind and helpful, EVEN when FF isn't there. :yay: And it's not because I'm a friend of hers - her sales people don't know that and I do not announce it.

And how many of us actually believe all that political mudslinging?

It's one thing when a customers say they had good/bad service and would/would not recommend a business. It's totally different for a business to go on a public forum and more or less trash not only former customers but a competitor they may have not even used.

I have a grooming business, if I came on here and started mudslinging about where you take your dog, how would you feel about me and my business? Would you believe what I said? Or would you think I'm not very secure in my business dealing

I have never been in PPP where is was even remotely dirty. I go to the Solomons store, which is closer to my home. Everything from the floor, to the laundry, and Dog Wash Areas are pristine. All of her Employees past, and present have been eager to help, no matter what. I enjoy going there, because I know what I get for my pets is fresh, and it makes me feel good to be feeding my dogs the best! The only time I go to Pet Co is when I need Feeder Fish for my Turtle.

If you had valid information about another groomer's bad practices and it wasn't just personality driven, I would take that into consideration. You, being a groomer, would know more about other area groomers than I would, presumably from your customers who have used them before they came to you.

And in looking at FF's original post, I don't see where she's bashed them at all. Are they not a chain? Are they not Canadian owned? How is that "bashing" if it's the truth?

I was in there Tuesday for the first time, just to check it out (nice day for a top off, doors off day)...

Anyway, grabbed a few baked cookies for my pups and I was standing in front of the register/counter, looking around for some assistance, and one of the girls there asked me if I was finding everything OK and I gave her a "Yes, thank you" and she promptly... left the store.

No big deal, I went and found the other girl working and she was able to ring us up. It would've been cool if she had at least handed me a receipt or pushed my cookies towards me instead of let them sit on the edge of the counter, dangling in front of her crotch... that was an awkward grab.

:roflmao:

Not the worst experience ever but I did notice they were more expensive on some dog food items I like to buy for my kids.

Well, they are whiners.

Why are you more expensive than WalMart?

Why don't you have a full line of supplies for my exotic pet that nobody in the owns except me?

How dare you not kiss my ass?

:bawl: :tantrum:

You can't be everything to everyone, which is why we have choices in this crazy old world.

I was saying "Ha" to the whiner complaining about whiners.

If that's supposed to be a jab at me, I don't really think it's out of the ordinary to ask a store if they carry something.

How would you know if it was true? For that matter if somebody told me I'd be hearing it what? third hand? I don't take my dogs to a groomer so anything I would be repeating just he/she said. Clients tell me stuff all the time about their former groomers, I'm sure other groomers hear it about me. Take it with a grain of salt and remember there are two sides to everything.

You're right, in re reading her post she didn't really bash them. The sarcasm thing and the comment about the customers was petty though, certainly she could have phrased her comment a little differently and got the point across.

Exactly. So FF shouldn't be annoyed that anyone would dare shop at another pet supply store. You are absolutely right, as always! Muah!

Last year when I was "interviewing" fencing companies, there was one in particular who kept bad mouthing another company. I scratched the complainer off my list, and bumped up the "competitor" fairly quickly. I had to tell the guy more than once that he wasn't at my home to lecture me about other businesses, he was here to sell me his (and he failed).
