Pinks All Out

I race because I love it, but I also bracket race because everyone has an equal shot. It was a great event overall and I am more than proud to continue to support and participate in grass roots drag racing. And I am very thankful to PINKS and the people at Speed who have support grass roots drag racing. It's a great sport that was dying, but hopefully it will continue because I don't plans to stop racing any time soon. But from what I saw on saturday, not everyone had an equal shot, and I have a problem with that.

And MoparRacer896, no I ran in the D group. When I saw how many E and F's there were, I knew that we really didn't have much of a shot to get into the show anyways. I was holding out hope that they weren't gonna pick the mid-10 second cars again because they were picked last year, but I was very surprised when they picked a group out of the low 9 second cars because it seemed that there weren't that many of them bunched together.
They went with a low 9 class because some fans waited through 3 rain storms to see the races. It was the lowest times ever on pinks and I must say it was a great choice by the Speed, MIR and Pinks staff to go with that class.

As much as I wanted to see more locals in it because they were in the D-F groups. I loved watching the faster ones. It was truly and exciting weekend.

Yeah, because heaven forbid I be upset that I spent 3 days, money on entry fees, gas, food, and everything else down there for nothing, especially when I could've taken my car to Virginia and ran 2 $5000 to win foot brake races. Almost half the field was running high to mid 10's, they couldn't find 16 out of those 200 cars? All of the evidence just points to a set-up.

:baby:

Take your car to Old Dominion Speedway and see what kind of an equal shot you get there. I'd be willing to bet PINKS is more equal playing ground than ODS is.

Thanks! If I get my hand on a sticker I might mosey down there for a Friday meet.

Pat had a marine 454 motor in it the first time he fired it up and tweaked the frame. Dumb-dumb could not get it to hook up so he reworked it...

He was talking about giving the car to his oldest when he got his license but I think most of us talked him out of that. :lmao:

Thanks again for the info!

Sure, no problem. You'll be in awe @ the power these machines make, and the times they run. It's a 1/8 mile class. Was 1/4 last year till these 3,400#
cars were running close to 200mph! SICK speeds for that heavy a car.
Beev you need to bring your oval a** over to our stomping grounds on a Real Street night.. Asphault is for racing, dirt is for playing.

He took an old Busch series (roundy round track) stockcar, made it street legal, and raced it on the straight track.
Certainly seen his car there, we had two nephews in the show(not in the final show). Had two of our home team in the final show though Charlie & Larry, but didn't make it to the end, but did their best. I personally had two great days of fun! And got my moneys worth there for once and I am there every Saturday with my son and several other family members who are in points at MIR.

The cameras were all over him. They did an hour long interview with him on Friday.

How did your nephews do?

Faster cars are more exciting to watch. The 10,11,12 second cars get boring after a few go down. With the quicker machines, they are harder to drive/handle, tune and just be consistant every run. About 1,000HP to the rear wheels for a low 9 second pass.
And I bet the "Pinks" show gets very good ratings, because of the fast field..

It was a very exciting show. The S10 was leaving the line on 2 wheels but still got left at the start by the younster driving the Camero.

Pro stock looking S-10? Kid with kinda long curly black hair? If so I've raced with him, he's only like 19-20 years old. He's been racing for a while, used to run Jr. dragsters. Glad they persevered and put on a good show for everyone. MIR is a class A facility, with class A management. That's hard to find in a dragstrip..

Did you see the feature cars? There were some great cars in there. A true variety of cars/trucks showed up this time.

Dude, I've been drag racing since I was 9, please don't try and lecture me on what is and isn't part of racing. All I'm saying is that it seemed very fishy that we heard a month ago that they were gonna try and get Charlie into the race and he ended up int he final 16. If Royce or Jason posted up the breakdown and showed me where that was the closest group possible, I'd have no problem.

There were a ton of rumors. I heard 2 weeks ago that they were going to go with the mid 10s just so alot of locals would make it thru. Don't believe every thing you hear.

Fewl, I've been to races where Steve Britt at Old Dominion Speedway Park had determined who would win long before the gates opened up. I've been to several tracks, and Royce runs a fair show which is more credit than I can give Steve Britt.

One was interviewed with the 69 chevelle which used to be ours on Saturday, but both cars didn't run what they usually do. Not sure what was really going on with them. Even with the heat, one of them is always there every weekend and know what it runs with that heat and this was the worst it has ever done.
We were hoping for one other car to be in also, that would of been my son, he was there also in May for the quailifer but didn't make it in, I felt bad for him. One nephew bought one in January. The other one, got the 80-th ticket they gave away that day in MAY such LUCK!!!!!!!!

BUT we all were there to support one another and to have fun. That is all what is was about.

I'd be interested to see how he chooses people to win. I've had it happen before at Cecil County that I "just happened" to be paired up with the other car from MIR that I traveled with in the first round, but I don't think I've seen it where the winner was predetermined.

And sockgirl77, I believe that rumor was started due to the overwhelming amount of 10 second cars on the property for the race. When I went through tech, I was the 15th 'D' class car, whereas there were already over 60 cars combined in the E and F classes. The odds were heavily in favor of a field somewhere in the 10 second range.

Which one was it, Heaven Sent or Hell Bound? I would bet the latter... that car was bass-ass, made my Chevelle look like a Chevette. :lmao:
