I'm sure glad I wasted my time to go down and try and get into a predetermined field. What a joke. I can't wait to get back to normal racing on Saturday.

It wasn't predetermined. My friend is friends with Royce and he said that they were really contemplating which field to choose because there were so many great cars.
How was the racing? What was the field speed?
It was great.
Not sure of the name but it's on the website. It was a beautiful Camaro from Rockville.

You'd have to show me the break-down to prove it to me. We had heard almost a month ago that they were going to try and get Charlie Yingling into the field, and they gave him his ticket to the race, and it just so happened that he ended up in the field of 16. I ran an 11.09 on my 1 time run on saturday. I was towards the end of my letter group and even after I was done we counted 11 cars that ran betwee 11.07-11.12, and I guarantee there were more before I ran. Like I said, you'd have to show me the breakdown to prove it to me that they picked the closest 16.

Yeah, because heaven forbid I be upset that I spent 3 days, money on entry fees, gas, food, and everything else down there for nothing, especially when I could've taken my car to Virginia and ran 2 $5000 to win foot brake races. Almost half the field was running high to mid 10's, they couldn't find 16 out of those 200 cars? All of the evidence just points to a set-up.

My friend didn't pay entry fees. He did the 5/2 qualifier and they gave him his ticket.
Either way, it was a great event. You had the chance to get your ride on TV. Everyone who registered knew the small odds of getting your car in the 16. There were what? 400 cars?
Most people don't race for the money. They race because they love it. It was a great weekend despite the weather. We spent hours talking to tons of people from various places. All were just happy to be there and enjoying themselves. I heard nobody biatch because they didn't make it thru. Take my friend for example. His car race it's ass off on Friday. He went up to qualify on Saturday and ran a 13.59. Track was still somewhat wet. He was lucky enough to get into the Outakes but still got caught up on the start. This car consistantly runs in the low 12s. While he was pissed at his car and the semi damp track, he was incredibly happy that he got to run. We all had a blast.

Are you the one with Pat's old Mustang?

I take it your car ran in that group. They did a 10.70-10.80 field the last time they were @ MIR in 07'. I missed out by .001, my car ran a 10.68 & 10.69.
Faster cars make for a more entertaining show, they've done the 10 second cars many times @ many different venues. Glad to hear the faster guys got in. Heard it was a low 9 second field. Fastest field ever for an All Out Show.
Who won???

Hehehehe, no I believe that would be Tippett Motorsports who now runs the stang that Pat had. This is the Pat that was killed in a speedboat, correct?

Correct, that car. I was PM'ing with someone a while back (I think it was a Tippett) who wanted a "Deez Nutz" sticker for inside of it and I might have a line on one... I was just down talking to his Brother In Law and he thought he has a few, if he found one he would hold it off to the side to put inside his old car.

I race because I love it, but I also bracket race because everyone has an equal shot. It was a great event overall and I am more than proud to continue to support and participate in grass roots drag racing. And I am very thankful to PINKS and the people at Speed who have support grass roots drag racing. It's a great sport that was dying, but hopefully it will continue because I don't plans to stop racing any time soon. But from what I saw on saturday, not everyone had an equal shot, and I have a problem with that.

And MoparRacer896, no I ran in the D group. When I saw how many E and F's there were, I knew that we really didn't have much of a shot to get into the show anyways. I was holding out hope that they weren't gonna pick the mid-10 second cars again because they were picked last year, but I was very surprised when they picked a group out of the low 9 second cars because it seemed that there weren't that many of them bunched together.

I know the guy that owns/runs that Mustang now. It's a "Real Street" car, BBF on nitrous. They will be @ MIR this Friday for a points race. Car is black in color, wanna say #084.

Thanks! If I get my hand on a sticker I might mosey down there for a Friday meet.

Pat had a marine 454 motor in it the first time he fired it up and tweaked the frame. Dumb-dumb could not get it to hook up so he reworked it...

He was talking about giving the car to his oldest when he got his license but I think most of us talked him out of that. :lmao:

Thanks again for the info!
