Pitt Bull Attack - 5 dead including 3 kids

God bless Texas :yay:

What kind of friggin' moron lets their pitbull run loose???

The kind that thinks it's a sweet, harmless little pooch that would never hurt anything or anyone. Their 2 year old gets on the floor and rolls around and plays with it, climbs all over it, pulls it's ears. The cat sleeps with it. It wags it's tail when company comes over. That kind of friggin' moron.

Actually, I have to blame the owner of the dog even more than the dog because they obviously have raised it to be this way. Any dog can be trained to act as a "pet", not a wild animal.

When it comes to livestock attacks, ANY dog breed can do lots of damage. I'm not turning this into a pit debate, because I don't like them either, BUT pet dogs can and will do more damage than coyotes. Pet dogs think it's great to chase sheep and goats...it's a game to them. They don't kill an animal for food like a coyote would, they kill animals for sport. It's especially bad when more than 2 or more dogs get together.

Yes, the pitbull should have been kept fenced in or on a leash, but a lab could have done the same thing.

As much as I love my dog, if I found out she did anything remotely like that, I'd save you the favor and shoot her myself. I could never live with a dog that killed another animal in cold blood. We had a dog that killed a possum in our backyard but possums are nasty so I didn't mind. Something as sweet and gentle as a goat, especially helpless babies would be a different story.

FOR STARTERS...... SONSIE...................
IT WAS WRONG OF YOU TO HAVE MISLEAD PEOPLE WITH THE TITLE OF YOUR THREAD.
YOU HAVE MADE PEOPLE THINK IT WAS CHILDREN THAT WERE KILLED WHEN IN FACT IT WAS GOATS. YES THEY TOO ARE CALLED "KIDS" BUT THRU MOST OF YOUR THREAD YOU REFER TO THEM GOATS ...ITS NOT TILL THE LAST SENTENCE YOU REFER BACK TO THEM AS "KIDS".

What you have started is another "BASH PIT BULLS" thread and managed to get everyone stirred up even more with your title!

dogs by nature are prey driven animals.... their ancestors killed to survive. Yes...no dog kept as a family pets should kill livestock.... but there are several breeds of dogs that hunt and kill rabbits, squirrels, and other rodents.

SO MY QUESTION TO EVERYONE IS...............

IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE PIT BULL BREED THAT KILLED THE GOATS?
OR
IS IT IN GENERAL THE GOATS WERE KILLED BY A DOG?

SONSIE.....
WOULD YOU STILL HAVE WRITTEN THIS ARTICLE IF IT HAPPENED TO BE YOUR DOG THAT KILLED THEM? (LETS JUST SAY IF YOU OWNED A DOG) (PROBABLY NOT!)

WOULD YOU STILL HAVE WRITTEN THIS ARTICLE IF IT HAPPENED TO BE A LABRADOR RETRIEVER THAT HAD KILLED THEM? (PROBABLY NOT!)

TO EVERYONE THAT IS ALL FOR KILLING THE DOG BY SHOOTING IT OR BY POISONING IT..... JUST THINK ABOUT THIS:
HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF IT WAS YOUR DOG THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO KILL?

THE PROBLEM STARTS WITH THE OWNERS LETTING THEIR DOGS RUN AT LARGE!

I cant wait till LACIEGIRL get to see this post!!

Thanks COWGIRL for seeing it the right way.. even if you dont like the breed

What has an opossum ever done to you? What about a raccoon? My dogs, 3 vicious, blood-thirsty Boxers have killed two raccoons, an opossum, a ground hog and a bazillion moles...all within my fenced 3 acres.

Cowgirl is right on point. Prey drive...many NICE dogs have it. I'm not really a Pit fan either but any dog can kill another animal and sometimes something as simple as curiosity can turn out deadly. The dogs take in interest in a "critter," the critter runs and the game is on. There's a huge difference between killing a goat/another animal and killing a person.

So we should let the dog live and kill the owner and their kids?

I watched a grey hound kill and eat a chicken. They put him down two days later for trying to come after them.

Would your boxers actually dig under a fence to get to something to kill it? Or do they just kill animals that come into their territory?

So are you saying that Sonsie shouldn't shoot the dog because it's someone's pet? BFD. The owner should have thought of that before letting her dog roam free. Do you think the owner will do anything to prevent this from happening again? I'm willing to bet not. As we've all seen, owners who let their dogs roam free typically don't care about anything or anyone else. They're going to do what they want. They don't care if their dog "inconveniences" anyone else.

This doesn't suprise me at all. That's what they're bred to do.

I'm sure you also have some news articles and statistics that show what a dangerous breed the greyhound is. Post 'em.

Nope. Just saying I saw it happen. Just so everyone understands all dogs will do it.

Seems to have worked on you  Yay, Sonsie!

Me either.

Not like you think........... Im not one who want to go kill the dog. The owners need to be held responsible and accountable for their dogs actions. And be educated on proper ways of keeping a dog.

Im just stating facts.

How many replies do you think this would have got if she didnt know what kind of dog did this?????
