problem w/ the neighbors

Twenty Something
Last night, my roommate and I noticed a cigarette smell coming into our room that was very strong in the hallway. She said she saw a towel or something shoved under the doorway of 2 girls who live across from us. I looked in the hallway, and sure enough -- there was something under the doorway and I heard the girls spraying something to cover up the smoky smell. Anyway, so we're positive that they were smoking in their room (which is illegal on campus & could set off the fire alarm) -- but we didn't *see* anything, so whatever we tell the RA is heresy. We decided that if we smell the smoke again, we'll go to the RA...but does anyone have ideas about how I could go about this the right way? I really can't stand cigarette smoke (as most of you know) and I don't see why I should have to suffer and breathe it in because they're too lazy to go outside and smoke....but I honestly don't want to be become a little tattletale.

Tell them to stuff Bounce sheets into an empty paper towel roll and blow the smoke into it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no cigarette is going to set off the fire alarm. Do you REALLY think they spent the $$ to upgrade the detectors to that HIGH degree of sensitivity after they changed the rules? Not gonna happen.

Number 1. Stand up straight
Number 2. Stop biting your lower lip
Number 3. Open your dormatory door and step smartly across the hallway
Number 4. Knock sharply on the offenders' door
Number 5. When they answer the door inform them that the towels under their door, sprays, etc. is not keeping the smell of their tobacco from getting out into the hallway.
Number 6. Turn around and walk back into your room.

Make it their problem, not yours. If they want to get caught, they are assisting the RA by continuing to smoke in the dormatory.

Or you can fold several sheets over one end and rubber band them in place. That way they can put the end of the ciggy in the tube and the smoke directly from the cig will filter too...Ahhh the things I learned in high school...

Either tell them not to do it or deal with it! And I am so sure you are going to obey all the rules while in the dorms right......That is what I thought!

Then don't, because one day they'll get you back for something you did wrong.

If you must, go and talk to them about it. But they might just tell ya STFU.

O I C... U come out of hiding for advice on smoking, but not for advice on sending flowers...

Sorry, I was out yesterday getting a waterpump replaced in truck and didn't read your request until this morning and you had it under wraps :huggy: I use 1800 flowers and never had any complaints...

What is not too late, however, is my prayers... I will be directing them to your aunt and family. :flowers:

Doesn't everyone use the forums to get advice or just to vent from time to time?

If you knock on the door, tell them that you can still smell the smoke and make it look like you're doing them a favor so they don't get into trouble, you'll be getting what you want and they'll think you're cool in the process........ :yay: :yay:

I agree, except they will only think she's cool if she walks over with a lit cigarette hanging out of the corner of her mouth.
